Han Market, one of the familiar destinations for tourists, welcomes more than 5,000 visitors every day, and the number of visitors increases during peak season. To ensure food safety, the Market Management Board has implemented synchronous solutions, focusing on raising the awareness of traders. Currently, the whole market has more than 400 stalls selling food-related products, including more than 20 households providing food services.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Han Market Management Board, the work of building a civilized and safe market is regularly focused on. 100% of food traders at the market participate in training courses on food safety and hygiene, receive regular health check-ups and are instructed to practice according to regulations. Food products are required to have their origins traced using QR codes; inspections and reminders are conducted periodically, combined with visual propaganda through banners and leaflets. Mr. Thanh added that Han Market traders regularly remind each other to comply with food safety regulations, both to protect public health and to contribute to promoting the city's tourism image.
Ms. Vo Thi Bach Tuyet, a food technology vendor at Han Market, shared that, fully aware of the seller’s role in protecting consumers’ health, vendors always comply with legal regulations and actively participate in training courses organized by the Market Management Board. In addition, many vendors also proactively encourage customers to maintain public hygiene and use safe food.
At major markets in Hai Chau district such as Cho Moi, Cho Con..., food safety work is seriously implemented. According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Quoc, Deputy Head of the Hai Chau District Market Management Board, propaganda measures are deployed in a variety of ways such as broadcasting, hanging banners, slogans, distributing leaflets, organizing thematic propaganda conferences... At the same time, the Management Board regularly coordinates to organize training courses on food safety knowledge for management staff and traders at the market. Right from the beginning of the year, the food safety management team was established and assigned specific tasks according to each peak period such as holidays, Tet, Action Month for Food Safety...
For Cho Moi, where there are more than 200 stalls selling fresh, dried and processed foods, the control of the origin of goods is always tightened. Items must have invoices and documents, clearly stating the place of production and slaughter. Trader Che Thi Nga, who sells meat at Cho Moi, said that she always chooses clear sources of goods, imports them on the same day, and strictly adheres to requirements on storage conditions, hygiene in the preparation and display of food. The awareness of "keeping the profession by keeping reputation" is spread by traders, creating a healthy business environment in the market.
At the city level, food safety work continues to be widely and synchronously implemented. In the first quarter of 2025, all levels, sectors, districts and counties organized 9 training courses with more than 2,190 participants; organized 14 propaganda sessions in residential areas with 1,433 people; confirmed food safety knowledge for 128 trainees; distributed more than 6,000 leaflets, made more than 1,200 radio broadcasts and hung more than 370 propaganda banners and billboards. The contents focused on raising public awareness of the risks of food insecurity, providing guidance on proper food selection, processing and preservation.
Responding to the “Food Safety Action Month” from April 15 to May 15, the City Food Safety Management Board continues to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to promote propaganda in many forms: broadcasting at traffic lights, organizing training courses on food production according to good manufacturing practices (GMP), especially at ice production facilities, one of the sensitive consumer goods in the hot season. At the same time, the People's Committees of districts and the City Farmers' Association also actively coordinate to organize training for food producers, traders and food service providers to improve practical skills and limit health risks for the community.
Together with food safety management units, the city's market management force continues to strengthen inspection and supervision of the area, grasp the production and business situation, promptly detect and handle violations related to product quality, origin and hygiene standards. At the same time, focus on propaganda work to raise awareness of law compliance for organizations and individuals producing and trading food in the area.
