On January 23, Head of Yen Tu National Park and Relic Management Board Le Tien Dung said that frost appeared early in the morning in the Dong Pagoda area.
At this time, the temperature dropped to 0 degrees with wind and light rain, so frost appeared, and by noon there was still no sign of melting.
Here, the temple roof, bells and gongs, and the railings in front of the Dong Pagoda are all covered in a layer of white ice. In addition, the trees in the area below are also frozen. The thick layer of ice flows in one direction due to strong wind and rain.
"Curious tourists travel to Dong Pagoda to worship and see this rare natural phenomenon with their own eyes," said Mr. Dung.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the strengthening cold air has affected the northern provinces, the north central region and some places in the central central region.
The temperature was updated at 6am this morning, many places in the mountainous areas dropped below 5 degrees, of which, Mau Son (Lang Son) dropped the lowest with minus 0.9 degrees; Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc) 2 degrees; Dong Van (Ha Giang) 2.2 degrees; Sa Pa (Lao Cai) 3.7 degrees; Trung Khanh (Cao Bang) 3.8 degrees; Moc Chau (Son La) 4.4 degrees.
