Vietnamese shooting team wins 11 gold medals at Southeast Asian tournament

The 45th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship 2023 takes place from November 6 to 17 with the participation of 150 shooters from 9 delegations, including: Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and host Chinese Taipei.

The Vietnamese shooting team participated in the tournament with 19 members, including outstanding shooters such as 19th Asiad champion Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh, Trinh Thu Vinh, etc. After many days of competition, the Vietnamese shooters excellently won 11 gold medals.

The gold medals won by Vietnamese shooting at this tournament were in the following categories: Individual 25m men's standard pistol (Phan Xuan Chuyen), men's team 25m men's standard pistol (Xuan Chuyen, Minh Thanh, Tien Nam), women's team 10m air rifle (Mong Tuyen, Thanh Thao, Nguyen Thi Thao), men's 25m revolver pistol (Ha Minh Thanh), men's team 25m revolver pistol (Minh Thanh, Tien Nam, Xuan Chuyen), men's 10m air pistol (Lai Cong Minh), men's 10m air pistol team (Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh), women's team 50m lying down rifle (Phi Thanh Thao, Nguyen Thi Thao, Duong Ha My), 10m mixed air pistol (Trinh Thu Vinh, Lai Cong Minh), 25m rapid fire pistol (Ha Minh Thanh, Phan Xuan Chuyen, Vu Tien Nam) and men's team 50m three-position air rifle (Pham Ngoc Thanh, Nguyen Thanh). Vietnam Shooting had a successful tournament

At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese shooting team won a total of 11 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 9 bronze medals, ranking second overall after the host Chinese Taipei (18 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 4 bronze medals), and third place was Malaysia (8 gold medals, 9 silver medals, 10 bronze medals). This achievement has proven that Vietnamese shooting is one of the key sports of high-performance sports. With a team of promising athletes, with suitable professional qualities, achieving good results in the Southeast Asian region and approaching the achievements of the Asian region and the world.

The 2023 Southeast Asian Shooting Championship is also the last international tournament this year for the Vietnamese shooting team. After the tournament in Chinese Taipei, the shooters will return home and compete in the national championship.
