(NLDO)- On January 17, the Civil Aviation Authority held a conference to hand over leadership duties between former Director Dinh Viet Thang and new Director Uong Viet Dung.
According to the Decision of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) dated December 31, 2024, Mr. Uong Viet Dung - Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport, concurrently Chief of Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport, was temporarily appointed to hold the position of Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam from January 1, 2025.

At the Conference, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang officially handed over the tasks of the Civil Aviation Authority to the new Director Uong Viet Dung. Mr. Dinh Viet Thang expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance of the leaders of the Ministry of Transport; the companionship and sharing of the collective of civil servants and key officials of the Civil Aviation Authority during the time he was assigned the task of Director of the Civil Aviation Authority.
Mr. Dinh Viet Thang believes that Director Uong Viet Dung and the collective leadership, civil servants and employees of the Civil Aviation Authority will continue to promote the good tradition, always try their best, unite and stick together for the goal of developing the Vietnamese aviation industry more and more sustainably.
He also requested the leaders of the Department and related units to immediately after the handover conference, organize and report specific work to the Director; promptly review the work plan, tasks, and work activities according to the assignment, and closely coordinate to advise the new Director to manage the work to achieve the highest efficiency.
New Director Uong Viet Dung expressed that with the responsibility of the leader, he will devote all his capacity and mind, wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly, together with the collective, to uphold the tradition, build the Civil Aviation Authority to develop more and more comprehensively and sustainably, and successfully complete the political tasks assigned by the Ministry of Transport.
New Director Uong Viet Dung also hopes that the leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Civil Aviation Authority will continue to unite, promote a high sense of responsibility, dedication, diligence, initiative, creativity, promote emulation, build a clean and strong Party organization and agency in all aspects, and perform well and excellently all assigned tasks.

At the same time, the new Director called on all cadres, party members and workers to continue to promote the glorious tradition of the Civil Aviation Authority over 69 years of construction and growth, uphold the spirit of solidarity, unity, and joint efforts to overcome all difficulties and challenges, seize opportunities, and move towards the 14th National Party Congress - a special milestone on the country's development path, opening a new era, an era of growth for the Vietnamese people.
Mr. Uong Viet Dung was born in 1983, is an engineer majoring in Aircraft Engineering, Saint Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation, Russian Federation; Bachelor of Corporate Finance, National Economics University, Master of Human Resources Management, Trade Union University, graduated with a degree in Advanced Political Theory.
Before taking office as Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Uong Viet Dung held the following positions: Deputy Chief of Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee; Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport; Chief of Office of the Ministry of Transport, and concurrently Chief of Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport.
His predecessor, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, held the position of Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam from June 2017. In December 2024, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang submitted a request to the leaders of the Ministry of Transport for early retirement due to health reasons. The leaders of the Ministry of Transport reviewed Mr. Dinh Viet Thang's request for early retirement according to the procedure.
