Wycliffe K. Grousbeck, commonly known as Wyc Grousbeck, was born in 1961 in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. He is an American businessman, best known for being the owner of the Boston Celtics basketball team from 2002 to 2025.
Mr. Grousbeck graduated from Princeton University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in history, where he rowed on the light sculling team and won the national championship.
He then received his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1986 and his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1992, where he was named a Miller Scholar.
Prior to entering the sports industry, Mr. Grousbeck spent seven years at Highland Capital Partners, a venture capital firm, as a partner.

In 2002, he founded and led the Boston Basketball Partners LLC group to acquire the Boston Celtics for $360 million. Under his leadership, the Celtics won their 17th NBA championship in 2008 and their 18th in 2024.
