- Madam, over the past 75 years, what memorable milestones has the Bac Tra My Party Committee achieved?
* Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh: The past 75 years have been a difficult journey for Bac Tra My district in the process of construction and development.
Immediately after the establishment of the Party Committee, Tra My district faced challenges in all areas: large area, difficult transportation, many ethnic minorities, people's lives mainly depended on farming... Therefore, the district Party Committee had to both build the Party and lead the people to fight against foreign invaders.
During the struggle against the US, Tra My district became a base, a foothold for the revolutionary forces of Military Region 5. In particular, the victory at Doc commune post on March 27, 1971 marked the complete liberation of Tra My.
To concentrate development resources and follow the people's wishes, on June 20, 2003, the Government issued Decree No. 72 on separating Tra My district into Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts.
Immediately after the separation, the Party Committee and the government of Bac Tra My district flexibly, creatively and boldly applied many policies, innovative orientations and strategic breakthrough tasks to mobilize and make the most of the resources of the Central Government and the province to invest in economic development in mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas.
- What main solutions has Bac Tra My focused on to develop the socio-economy in a mountainous district in recent times?
* Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh: The district Party Committee has proposed many policies and strategies, together with the people, to build Bac Tra My district to develop more and more.
Regarding economic structure, the right orientation is aimed at gradually reducing the structure of agriculture and forestry, gradually increasing the structure of industry, trade and services. The production value of economic sectors has grown quite well, especially the value of industrial production, small-scale industry, construction; economic development projects have been issued such as the project to develop livestock, grow medicinal plants, develop Tra My cinnamon trees, develop farm economy, family farms, fruit trees, etc. Thereby increasing people's income, reducing poverty sustainably.
When it was first established in 1949, Tra My District Party Committee had 67 members, operating in Tra Luong, Tra Son, Tra Tak Pui, and Viet Bac Party Cells. Up to now, the locality has had 50 grassroots party organizations with more than 2,600 party members. Bac Tra My focuses on building a clean and strong political system, constantly improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party organizations, improving the quality of party members, improving the quality of party cell activities, and the quality of cadres and party members on par with political tasks.
Currently, the average income per capita of the district reaches more than 28 million VND/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 34.7%. Infrastructure has been invested, culture and society have developed, projects on tourism development, promoting and preserving the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in the district are increasingly focused.
- Escaping poverty by 2025 is a major goal of Bac Tra My. How will local leaders carry out this task, Madam?
* Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Thanh: First of all, Bac Tra My continues to innovate the Party's leadership method, build a great unity bloc within the entire Party and people through many ways, strongly arousing the revolutionary tradition, the will of self-reliance, self-improvement and the aspiration to rise up of the people of all ethnic groups.
The district also takes full advantage of the leadership attention of the Central and Provincial Party Committees, especially effectively exploiting resources from national target programs to develop the local socio-economy.
The district continues to implement solutions to promote economic development and increase income for the people. In particular, sustainable poverty reduction is a major goal, a central and long-term task of the entire political system and society.
Resources are integrated, focusing on supporting investment in essential infrastructure, accelerating the progress of investment in infrastructure projects. The district also calls for and promotes trade, services, creative startups and attracts and creates conditions for businesses to invest in the district to maximize the local labor resources.
