In Germany, Borussia Dortmund hosted PSV at home. The home team at Signal Iduna Park attacked right after the opening whistle. They continuously attacked their opponents and scored after only 3 minutes. The scorer was Jadon Sancho with a shot from outside the box. The ball went low and fast, making it impossible for the PSV goalkeeper to block.
After that, both teams had consecutive chances but it was not until the second half's injury time that Marco Reus sealed a 2-0 victory for Dortmund with a gentle finish. Winning 2-0 against PSV in the second leg, Dortmund won 3-1 on aggregate after 2 matches and qualified for the quarter-finals.
In the match taking place in Spain, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan gave the audience an emotional match. After losing 0-1 in the first leg, coach Simeone and his team pushed up their attacking formation when playing the second leg at their home stadium, the Metropolitano.
However, poor finishing ability caused Atletico Madrid not only to not score but also to concede first. In the 33rd minute, Barella entered the penalty area before making a pass for Dimarco to finish into Atletico Madrid's net.

With the aggregate score at 2-0 to Inter, Atletico had no choice but to attack. After much effort, they finally got an equalizer in the second leg. Pavard's missed clearance accidentally became a pass for Griezmann to turn and shoot into the Inter Milan net.
In the second half, Atletico continued to maintain the pressure and as the match entered its final minutes, the home team scored another goal. In the 87th minute, Depay ran to receive the ball in the penalty area and then turned around to score a classy shot past goalkeeper Sommer, bringing the total score to 2-2.
This result forced the two teams to go into extra time. No goals were scored in the 30 minutes of extra time and the match was decided on penalties. In this series, up to 3 Inter players missed their kicks and Atletico won 3-2 to officially win the last ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2023/2024 European Cup C1.
