Despite scoring early, Arsenal inexplicably slowed down, giving Fulham a chance to push forward in search of an equaliser. In the 29th minute, Willian dribbled at speed, opening up a chance for Fulham and striker Jimenez made a smart run, receiving the ball in a favorable position before unleashing a decisive shot past goalkeeper Raya.
Fulham's goal made the match more exciting as both sides had chances but could not score more goals in the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Arsenal made changes in personnel but that not only did not bring the visitors an advantage but also caused them to concede a goal. In the 59th minute, a mistake from Arsenal's defense when center-back Gabriel did not clear the ball well enough created conditions for Cordova-Reid to increase the score to 2-1 for Fulham.

Seeing his team falling behind, Coach Arteta immediately sent all his best attacking players onto the field but Arsenal's attacking ability did not improve. The match ended with Arsenal losing 1-2.
In the same match, Tottenham easily won 3-1 against Bournemouth thanks to goals from Sarr, Richarlison and Son Heung Min.
