The US International Trade Commission (ITC)'s ban on the sale of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches officially took effect on December 26.

Apple has now discontinued the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 from its online store in the US. However, users can still find the products at third-party retail systems.
Apple has been in a legal battle with health tech company Masimo over blood oxygen sensors for years, especially since Apple launched the Watch Series 6 in September 2020 with the feature. In a 2021 filing with the ITC, Masimo accused Apple of 103 violations across five different patents. After an investigation, the agency concluded that Apple had infringed on two patents.
For its part, Apple said the company is making every effort to bring the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 back to the US market as soon as possible.
Currently, the ITC's decision only affects two smartwatch models, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Apple Watch SE and older products are not affected by the ban.
