According to Neowin , the base 14-inch MacBook Pro now features an M3 chip that promises to deliver 60% faster performance than the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 chip. The new M3 chip allows for faster performance in apps like Final Cut Pro, Xcode, and Microsoft Excel compared to previous models.
The new series are the first computers to come with 3nm chips.
For those who are more demanding, Apple also introduced the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros. The M3 Pro offers up to 40 percent faster performance than the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip. Photoshop filters run up to 3 times faster, while DNA sequencing is up to 20 times faster than on Macs with Intel processors.
The top-of-the-line M3 Max delivers up to 11 times the performance of an Intel Mac and is twice as powerful as the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip. MATLAB simulations are up to 5.5 times faster and Redshift rendering is up to 5.3 times faster, according to Apple benchmarks. Users can configure the M3 Max system with up to 128GB of onboard memory.
All new MacBook Pros feature improved graphics performance thanks to advances in GPU architecture. For the first time, MacBooks also offer hardware ray tracing, making graphics more realistic when playing games.
Key hardware features on the new MacBook series
The high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips will be available in a new Space Black color option, in addition to the silver option. All models feature the same Liquid Retina XDR display technology, 1,080p webcam, and premium speaker system as their predecessors. The starting price for the M3 MacBook Pro is $ 1,499 when it goes on sale in early November.
