(NLDO) - About 4,134 households with a population of about 15,101 people will be affected when the Hang Xanh area is compacted.

Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) has just sent a report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Transport and Public Works (GTCC) on the implementation status of the TOD urban beautification project in the Hang Xanh area, Binh Thanh district.

Previously, CII proposed the idea of implementing the TOD project to improve the urban area of Hang Xanh. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned CII to use its capital to hire consultants to complete the study.

According to CII, through survey and data collection, the area planned to implement the project is estimated to need to reclaim more than 500,000 m2 of land. Of which, residential land accounts for more than 282,000 m2 , and green traffic land accounts for more than 134,000 m2 .

Regarding affected households, there are about 4,134 households with a population of about 15,101 people in the area. In addition, this area has many medium voltage power grids, underground and many transformer stations, telecommunication cables, etc.

CII has approved the proposal for Arup Vietnam Co., Ltd. to provide conceptual planning services for the Hang Xanh TOD project. The consulting cost is approximately VND 15.3 billion. CII continues to discuss and sign a contract in March 2025 to implement the project.

At the same time, CII is working with BR Design Consulting Co., Ltd., VTCO Investment Co., Ltd., and Lap Viet Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company to study the project's technical infrastructure and urban planning in the project area.

According to CII’s previous proposal, the scope of the TOD study is from Hang Xanh intersection to Binh Trieu, with a total preliminary investment of about 216,000 billion VND. The project’s goal is to solve traffic congestion and increase traffic connectivity for the Hang Xanh area and Binh Trieu bridge.

The project also proposes to develop underground space, build key projects, high-rise buildings, green areas, cultural, sports, medical, commercial and service areas... combined with smart transportation applications to optimize travel and limit environmental impact.
