Brother hacked his younger brother to death over land dispute

On the afternoon of June 3, the leader of Duy Tan Ward People's Committee, Kinh Mon Town (Hai Duong) said that a serious crime had just occurred in the ward, causing one death. The suspect and the victim were both siblings.

Previously, at around 4:40 a.m. the same day, people in Duy Tan Ward were exercising when they discovered two brothers fighting.

At that time, Mr. Tran Van Huan (62 years old, residing in Chau Xa village, Duy Tan ward, Kinh Mon town) went from his home to the living and raising area of ​​his younger brother, Mr. Tran Van T. (59 years old, also residing in Chau Xa village).

There, Mr. Huan used a knife to slash his younger brother many times, causing the victim to die on the spot. After committing the crime, Mr. Huan took the weapon to the Duy Tan Ward Police Station to surrender.

The initial cause, according to Mr. Huan’s testimony, was due to a conflict in dividing the property left by his father. Previously, after his father passed away, Mr. Huan gave his younger brother a sum of money to do business on a piece of land near the mountain, while Mr. Huan received a piece of land in the village. This matter had been discussed verbally between Mr. Huan and his younger brother 30 years ago.

However, about 10 years ago, Mr. T. again demanded to redistribute the property left by his father. After many negotiations without finding a common voice, a conflict arose between the two brothers. The conflict reached its peak when Mr. T. recently heard that his brother wanted to build a house for his son on the disputed land.

To resolve the above incident, at the end of 2022, the Duy Tan Ward government mediated the dispute and asked the two brothers to write a commitment not to cause disorder. However, on the morning of June 3, the heartbreaking incident occurred.

Upon receiving the news, Duy Tan Ward Police were present to protect the scene, coordinate with the professional unit of Kinh Mon Town Police and the Criminal Techniques Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police to organize a crime scene investigation, forensic examination as well as take statements from witnesses to serve the investigation, clarify the case of a brother hacking his younger brother to death due to a land dispute.
