The remains of 115 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died in Laos were gathered and buried at martyr cemeteries in Quang Binh and Nghe An on the afternoons of May 17 and 19.
At Ba Doc martyrs cemetery (Ly Trach commune, Bo Trach district), Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee held a memorial service and burial ceremony for 19 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers on the afternoon of May 17.
The martyrs were gathered after 7 months of searching during the 2022-2023 dry season. Team 589 (Quang Binh Provincial Military Command) said that the gathering encountered difficulties in terms of terrain, weather, and climate, but received enthusiastic support from the Lao people. This is the 44th time Quang Binh has received the remains of martyrs who died in Laos for burial.

Mr. Ho An Phong, Vice Chairman of Quang Binh Province, expressed his gratitude and condolences to the martyrs' relatives. "Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts died for the freedom, independence, peace and happiness of the people of the two countries, building the special and loyal friendship between Vietnam and Laos," said Mr. Phong.
Also today, Nghe An province held a ceremony to receive the remains of 96 martyrs gathered in the three provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane and Xay Som Bun (Laos). According to the plan, the remains will be handed over to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for biological samples to be taken, before the memorial service and burial on May 19.
In 2022, the remains of 103 martyrs, including Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers who died in Laos, were brought back to Nghe An.
