Pineapple contains many antioxidants such as phenolics, flavonoids and vitamin C that help fight cancer, prevent infections and other chronic diseases.

Pineapples are grown in tropical climates around the world. Many people love pineapples because they are delicious and have many health benefits, including cancer prevention.

According to the Mayo Clinic (USA), a healthy diet rich in antioxidants from pineapple helps fight free radicals, reducing the risk of cancer.

Excessive inflammation in the body can lead to diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer's. According to Harvard Medical School (USA), meals rich in anti-inflammatory foods like pineapple help reduce inflammation. The bromelain content in this fruit is what creates the anti-inflammatory properties.

A 2018 study by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and others, involving 82 people, found that a diet high in antioxidants (pineapple, beans, nuts) and high blood levels of antioxidants were associated with a reduced risk of cancer.

A 2014 study by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences found that pineapples are a rich source of antioxidants, especially phenolics, flavonoids, and vitamin C. Antioxidants have the ability to fight inflammation and free radicals in the body. While free radicals can cause cell damage and lead to heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases.

Pineapple also helps boost immunity against pathogens. According to a 2014 study by the Philippine Women's University, with 98 children participating, it showed that children who ate pineapple for 9 weeks had fewer viral and bacterial infections than those who did not eat pineapple. The researchers concluded that eating 140-280 grams of pineapple per day reduced or shortened the duration of infections.

According to the US Department of Agriculture, the prominent nutrient in pineapple is vitamin C (an antioxidant) which has the effect of strengthening the immune system, fighting cancer and chronic diseases. Vitamin C also promotes collagen formation, for healthy skin and plays a role in wound repair and iron absorption.

One cup of pineapple (125 g) contains nearly 79 mg of vitamin C, providing more than the recommended daily allowance of this nutrient for adult women (75 mg per day) and close to the recommendation for men (90 mg per day).
