This afternoon (September 19), Giao thong Newspaper, in coordination with the Vietnam Automobile Transport Association and the Yen Bai Department of Transport, and benefactors, transported relief goods free of charge to the center of Y Can commune. All villages in the commune were left with nothing, from houses to fields that were ready to be harvested, submerged in the raging waters.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Chien, Quyet Thang village, Y Can commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, emotionally said: "Receiving gifts from Giao Thong Newspaper and philanthropists to people in remote areas, I find it very practical. With this support money, I will use it to buy back some furniture damaged by the flood."

On this occasion, the delegation supported people of Y Can commune, Tran Yen district with 250 gifts including 10kg of rice and many necessities such as instant noodles, fish sauce, including 12 special gifts worth 2 million VND/household in difficult circumstances.

In Co Phuc town, Tran Yen district, Mr. Dao The Tan, a 1/4 disabled veteran, received gifts from the charity group and said emotionally: "I don't know what else to say, thank you to the donors who helped us in our difficult times. The family only has an old couple, I have one arm amputated, my health is poor and I can only survive on the State's subsidies."

Storm No. 3 YAGI has passed for more than ten days, but its consequences are still very severe. In Co Phuc town, there are 1,722 households, of which 1,260 were flooded, of which 1 house completely collapsed, 5 houses were damaged by landslides.

The rising floodwaters of the Red River caused all roads through the town to be submerged in water, mud, and silt, destroying many public works. The estimated damage was nearly 100 billion VND. By 4 p.m. on September 19, Yen Bai had damaged 27,331 houses and over 7,000 hectares of crops; total damage was 5,738 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Hung, Vice President of Vietnam Automobile Transport Association shared: "Hopefully, with our small gifts, we will help people in flood-hit areas overcome the losses, pain and severe impacts caused by storm No. 3. The spirit of national solidarity, love for compatriots, bravery and strength of the Vietnamese people will once again be aroused and strongly promoted."

Join hands to share, stay strong to overcome difficulties

The storm has passed but left behind the famous galangal fields throughout Quy Mong commune, now covered in a layer of red mud caused by the floodwaters of the Red River.

In addition to 250 gifts including rice, instant noodles, and many other necessities, the delegation continued to give 13 special gifts worth 2 million VND/household to share with the people here.

Ms. Phung Thi Cu, Hop Thanh village, Quy Mong commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province expressed: "My family has 9 sao of rice that were all flooded, hopefully we can salvage a little to use for future livestock farming. Today, Giao Thong Newspaper and sponsors have shared support with rice and fish sauce so that we can soon stabilize our lives."

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of the Giao Thong Newspaper Trade Union, said that in recent days, people in many northern mountainous provinces and cities have been struggling to cope with floods and landslides. Hundreds of people have died, gone missing or been injured. The material damage is also difficult to measure as tens of thousands of people have lost their homes and are struggling to live in the open, lacking food and daily necessities.

"Storm No. 3 caused very serious consequences for the people of Yen Bai province, including Tran Yen district. With the social responsibility of journalists and the generosity of businesses, Giao Thong Newspaper and sponsors, the district has promptly supported people in disaster areas to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize their lives," said Mr. Thang.

Tomorrow, September 20, Giao Thong Newspaper and other benefactors will continue their journey to Van Yen district to join hands to share the "National love - Compatriots' love" that was damaged by storms and floods. Accordingly, the delegation will give 200 million VND to rebuild Xuan Tam Primary and Secondary School, Van Yen district and give gifts to the people of Phong Du Thuong and Phong Du Ha communes, Van Yen district.

This time, the working group coordinated to present 12 tons of rice and more than 1,200 gifts of necessities to households affected and facing difficulties due to natural disasters, floods and landslides in the locality; directly presented 50 gifts to families in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 2 million VND/household to help the heavily affected communes: Y Can and Quy Mong, Co Phuc town (Tran Yen district), Phong Du Ha, Phong Du Thuong (Van Yen district).
