Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal removed Neymar from the list of players registered for the remaining stages of this season, due to the injury treatment time of up to 10 months.
Last month, Neymar suffered a knee injury during Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. Earlier this month, the 31-year-old forward underwent surgery and is expected to be out of action until September 2024. This means he will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with Al Hilal and the 2024 Copa America with Brazil.

According to Record , Al Hilal's leadership has decided to remove Neymar from the squad for the rest of the season. Coach Jorge Jesus wants to sign a new left-back and needs space in the squad.
Neymar joined Al Hilal in late August 2023. At that time, the Saudi Arabian team had to pay a transfer fee of 98 million USD to PSG and let Neymar earn up to 384 million USD in two years. This means that during 10 months of injury, the 31-year-old striker still earned 160 million USD without having to play.
After undergoing surgery for the injury, Neymar shared a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed. "Thank God," he wrote. "Everything is fine. Now, what is needed is strength and patience to recover." Neymar has played just five games and scored one goal for Al Hilal.
Al Hilal currently lead the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League, with 11 wins, two draws and 35 points from 13 games. Jorge Jesus' side are seven points clear of second-placed Al Nassr, having played one game more. They also lead Group D of the AFC Champions League, with 10 points from three games, level on points with second-placed Navbahor and a superior goal difference. In the King's Cup, Al Hilal reached the quarter-finals after two wins over Al Jabalain 1-0 and Al Hazem 3-0.
