On the evening of March 13, Mr. Bui Xuan Minh - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health - said that as of today, the total number of suspected food poisoning cases treated at hospitals after eating chicken rice at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, No. 10 Ba Trieu, Nha Trang City, is 60 people.

Of these, 20 people had mild symptoms and were discharged from the hospital the same day after first aid, while 40 people are still being monitored and are currently in stable health.

According to the report, at 8:30 p.m. on March 12, Nha Trang City Medical Center received a report of a number of cases hospitalized with suspected food poisoning symptoms due to eating chicken rice. Immediately upon receiving the report, the city's Food Poisoning Investigation Team went to investigate at the hospitals where the patients were hospitalized.

The patient had symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, loose stools, fever, and fatigue. The cause of the poisoning is still unknown.

Saigon - Nha Trang General Hospital is currently treating a number of patients suspected of poisoning.

Ms. Le Thi Ly Na (a tourist from Da Lat) said that her family of 11 adults and 3 children went to Nha Trang city for a vacation and stopped at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant for lunch. A few hours later, almost all members vomited and had headaches.

"We need the authorities to investigate and clarify the cause of the poisoning. Since my daughter was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening (March 12), she has had a high fever of nearly 40 degrees and is delirious.

The restaurant owner also contacted my family to ask for a solution. But we need a clear apology and appropriate treatment. Because after the trip, we were supposed to return to Da Lat, but because family members and children were seriously poisoned, we had to stay for treatment," said Ms. Na.

On March 13, the Department of Health directed medical facilities in the province to be ready to receive patients and mobilize all resources to focus on emergency care and treatment.

In particular, people with severe poisoning symptoms, children and the elderly are required to be transferred to higher-level hospitals. Medical facilities should promptly consult with provincial hospitals when there are unusual and complicated cases. When receiving patients, samples must be taken for testing, specimens must be stored, etc.

Mr. Minh said that the Department of Health directed the provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department to support the food poisoning investigation teams in Nha Trang City throughout the investigation process; regularly update the situation and developments of the food poisoning case so that the Department of Health can deploy timely response measures...

"On March 13, Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant was temporarily suspended for investigation. Authorities have taken samples of the patient's specimens and food samples suspected of poisoning to send for testing to find the exact cause," said Mr. Minh.
