60 years of building, fighting and growing

Morning of December 12 , in the city Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Border Guard Command ( December 15 , 1964 - December 15 , 2024 ).

Authorized by the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Nguyen Van Thien awarded a Certificate of Merit to the Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province.

Accordingly, on December 15, 1964, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Border Guard was established, associated with the event of the Ministry of Public Security providing support in the B10 and B11 phases to the Thua Thien Hue Armed Security with 50 officers and soldiers, laying the first foundation, forming the core force to consolidate and build the Thua Thien Hue Armed Security Force, the predecessor of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Border Guard later.

After 60 years of building, fighting and growing up, promoting the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", under the leadership of the Party, directly by the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command, and being nurtured and wholeheartedly supported by the people, the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province has constantly promoted the revolutionary qualities and fine traditions of the army in general and the Border Guard force in particular. The officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard have upheld the spirit of overcoming difficulties and hardships, standing firm on the border and islands, sticking together with the people of all ethnic groups, building the people's hearts and minds.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thien, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, gave a speech at the ceremony.

With the achievements, generations of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province were honored to receive noble awards from the Party and State such as: Title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 1979 (in the People's Armed Police force of Binh Tri Thien), Medal of Military Exploit (2000), 01 Third-class Fatherland Protection Medal (2014), 01 Friendship Medal (2003) and many other noble awards. Hundreds of collectives and individuals were commended by all levels, central and local branches.

Standing Deputy Secretary of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee Pham Duc Tien presented a banner to the Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Van Thien, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, praised and acknowledged the achievements and feats that generations of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province have achieved over the past 60 years. In the coming time, Major General Nguyen Van Thien requested the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province to continue to promote tradition, strengthen solidarity, maintain discipline, thoroughly grasp the viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on military and defense tasks; the tasks of building, managing and protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security, especially Resolution No. 33 of the Politburo on the National Border Protection Strategy, Resolution of the 8th Central Committee (Term XIII) on the Homeland Protection Strategy in the new situation. At the same time, synchronously, qualitatively and effectively implement measures for Border Guard work, maintain political security, social order and safety; strengthening political foundations, developing economy, culture and society in border areas...

Comrade Pham Duc Tien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that the development of the province has greatly contributed to the development of the province. At the same time, he hoped that officers and soldiers would continue to promote tradition, linking the task of border management and protection with economic, cultural and social development in the border area; advising and supporting local Party committees and authorities; promoting border diplomacy; uniting with the province's political system to build and develop Thua Thien Hue to be worthy of being a centrally-run city, worthy of being a major cultural center of the country.

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Traditional Day, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province were honored to receive a Letter of Commendation and Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense; a Banner from the Provincial Party Executive Committee; and Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 10 groups and 15 individuals. This is a great source of encouragement for officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of the province to continue to strive, overcome difficulties, and excellently complete all assigned tasks./.
