Phu Tho Hotels in Viet Tri are fully booked before the Hung Kings' death anniversary, while the Hung Temple management board expects to welcome 500,000 guests on the main holiday day, April 18.
Responding to VnExpress on the morning of April 17, Mr. Le Truong Giang, Director of the Hung Temple Historical Site, predicted that on the main holiday day, there would be about 500,000 visitors, 50% less than last year. The reason is that this year there is only one day off, while last year the Hung King's death anniversary coincided with the April 30-May 1 holiday, lasting 5 days.

On April 17, the management board of the relic site has not recorded a specific number of visitors but there has been no traffic jam. From 10pm today to 9am on April 18, the relic site will stop receiving visitors to prepare for the incense offering ceremony, after which visitors can come normally. Mr. Giang predicted that there may be traffic jams during the ceremony, but the management board and related units have prepared response plans such as coordinating with the police to set up many checkpoints to regulate traffic, security, and health.
The government also organized many activities such as banh chung and banh giay wrapping competitions and Xoan singing, attracting a large number of visitors to Viet Tri during the 10-day festival. On April 18, Phu Tho will organize an art program and high-altitude fireworks display within the framework of the "Hung Kings' Commemoration Program - Hung Temple Festival and the Cultural Tourism Week of the Ancestral Land in the Year of the Dragon 2024" at the stage south of Van Lang Park.
There are few vacant rooms at luxury hotels, while budget hotels are fully booked. A representative of Quynh Huong Hotel, located nearly 5 km from Hung Temple, said the facility was fully booked for the Hung Kings' death anniversary.
According to a survey, most of the 2-3 star hotel rooms around Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province have been fully booked for many days. Room rates at these hotels are around 300,000-500,000 VND.
Mr. Binh, representative of Truong An Hotel in Viet Tri city, said that guests had booked all their rooms for the Hung Kings' death anniversary before Tet. He added that every year on the night of the 9th of the 3rd lunar month, hotels in Viet Tri and the surrounding areas within a distance of less than 10 km from Hung Temple are fully booked early.
On booking applications such as Agoda, Booking, the remaining hotel rooms are mainly in high-end areas such as Muong Thanh, Sojo, Saigon Phu Tho with prices around 1 million VND, with limited quantity. Motels with prices under 200,000 VND scattered in Viet Tri city such as Hung Thinh, Bao Ngoc, Thanh Tuyen, Cay Dua, An Phat, Thanh Nhan are also almost full.
Le Hai, Director of Hao Nhien Tourism Company in Viet Tri, said that this year, shops started to get crowded from the first day of the Lunar New Year, but not to the point of overload.

Like every year, tourists tend to combine going to Hung Temple festival with bathing in hot mineral water in Thanh Thuy district, about 30 km from the temple. This year, the onsen (Japanese-style bath) area here has just come into operation, so it also attracts a large number of tourists.
Ms. Phuong Thanh, the owner of two apartments for rent at Wyndham Thanh Thuy, said her place was booked weeks before the Hung Kings' death anniversary. "Some apartments and villas I know are already fully booked," Ms. Thanh said.
To serve tourists attending the Hung Temple Anniversary, Phu Tho Province Tourism Information and Promotion Center has arranged information points to support visitors at the Festival Center gate, Cong Quan Hill yard and the Gieng Temple - Hung Temple Historical Relics Intersection. There are tour guides and publications, leaflets introducing and promoting tourist destinations, and tour programs to visit and experience the Land of Ancestors.
