Samsung's Galaxy A series is among the best mid-range phones on the market. They tend to offer a solid spec list, reasonable prices, and wide availability. They're not perfect, though, so the company needs to make some essential improvements to the lineup in 2024.
Fix camera shutter lag
Camera shutter lag is arguably the worst thing about Galaxy A phones, especially in low light. Specifically, phones like the Galaxy A34 and A54 have a large camera shutter lag when shooting in low light.
The Galaxy A series' shutter speed is still a limitation that needs to be overcome
In reviews conducted by Android Authority , pressing the shutter button on the Galaxy A phones resulted in a large delay in dark environments, resulting in users getting blurry photos because their hands weren't still while waiting for the camera to capture the scene.
Hopefully Samsung can fix this by 2024, as one limitation of taking photos is that noise makes the quality blurry, even unrecognizable. This is not an issue with modern smartphones.
More premium designs
The 2023 Galaxy A series brings some design elements from the flagship Galaxy S series, like similar rear camera cutouts and rounded edges. But there's still room for improvement.
Galaxy A34 still has the disadvantage of the old waterdrop notch design
First of all, we can't help but mention the use of cheap plastic frames on both the Galaxy A34 and A54. Samsung is expected to offer more premium designs in 2024. A recent leak of the Galaxy A55 suggests that the product may adopt a premium approach by focusing on quality.
However, this isn't all bad in terms of design, as Samsung's budget phone still stands out thanks to its IP67 rating. You don't see the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, or Motorola offering this level of water and dust resistance on their mid-range products.
Faster wired charging
Samsung isn't known for its fast charging speeds, so it's no surprise that the company's mid-range phones take a long time to charge. As the tech world moves towards faster charging, the Galaxy A phones need to improve their charging capabilities.
Slow charging speed makes Galaxy A weaker than competitors in the segment
For example, the Galaxy A54 takes 85 minutes to fully charge, while the Galaxy A34 takes around 100 minutes. Of course, people don't demand the company to provide charging power above 65W like other products, Samsung can significantly reduce charging time if the phone spends more time reaching the maximum charging speed above 25W.
