According to a report from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in August 2024, 21 students were found to have measles in kindergartens and primary schools in the area. The schools coordinated with their families to take the students to medical facilities for treatment. To date, all 21 kindergarten and primary school students have been able to return home.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has directed schools to strengthen measures to prevent measles in accordance with the instructions of the health sector. In particular, it is necessary to focus on early detection of cases in childcare groups and kindergartens; immediately inform the ward, commune and town health stations when there are cases.

In addition, schools must keep clean and airy; regularly disinfect toys, learning tools and classrooms with common disinfectants.
In addition, schools need to continue to coordinate with the health sector in managing and reviewing students' vaccination history, thereby coordinating the organization of vaccination campaigns at school.
The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also requires schools to propagate and mobilize parents to implement the following measles prevention measures:
Take the initiative to take children from 9 months to 2 years old (not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated with 2 doses of measles vaccine) to get vaccinated completely and on schedule. Do not let children get close to or come into contact with children suspected of having measles. Wash hands with soap regularly when caring for children. Keep children's body, nose, throat, eyes and mouth clean every day. Make sure the house and toilet are airy and clean. Improve children's nutrition.
When detecting signs of fever, cough, runny nose, rash in children, they should be isolated early and taken to the nearest medical facility for examination, consultation and timely treatment. Children should not be treated beyond the level of the hospital when not necessary to avoid hospital overload and cross-infection in the hospital.
