2 quarries proposed to enjoy special mechanisms

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is preparing procedures to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and resolution. The investor of Nui Nua Mine (Long Khanh City) proposed to increase capacity according to a special mechanism to supply materials for the Long Thanh International Airport Project. However, the Long Thanh International Airport Project is not yet on the list of projects implemented according to a special mechanism, so Nui Nua Mine is not eligible for special treatment. The Department of Agriculture and Environment is guiding implementation according to the Law on Geology and Minerals.

In Resolution No. 60/NQ-CP dated June 16, 2021 of the Government on the application of a special mechanism in licensing the exploitation of minerals for common construction materials to supply the Investment Project for the construction of a number of expressway sections on the North-South Eastern route in the period of 2017-2020 (already started and about to start construction), it is stipulated that: mineral mines for common construction materials (except sand, gravel in river beds and estuaries) that have been licensed, are in operation, and are still in the exploitation period, may increase their capacity by no more than 50% of the capacity stated in the license without having to prepare an adjusted investment project, environmental impact assessment or certificate of completion of environmental protection works.
