Gymnastics is currently experiencing many scandals. Firstly, the case of athlete Pham Nhu Phuong , a member of the national gymnastics team, accusing coach NTD of embezzling bonus money is causing a stir in public opinion.

In an interview with the press, athlete Pham Nhu Phuong confirmed that she had to continuously cut 10% of her medal bonus, along with 50% of the bonus from businesses and sponsors for the head coach, and had to pay a fund of up to several hundred thousand VND each month, but did not know how that money was used.

After initial investigation and verification of information, the Department of Sports and Physical Training confirmed that the information about the coach collecting medal money from athlete Pham Nhu Phuong is true. However, this incident occurred when the athlete was training locally, not the policy of the Department of Sports and Physical Training.

The explanatory document of the Department of Sports and Physical Training sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism clearly stated: "Representatives of the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, the Department of Physical Education and the national team coaches attended the meeting, clearly reported and committed that the team coaching board, the Hanoi National Sports Training Center as well as the Department of Physical Education and Physical Training, the Department of Sports and Physical Training have no policy of collecting medal bonuses or any money for the athletes' fund.

Coach NTD, who was involved in the accusation of collecting bonuses, explained that the money collected into the fund was from athletes of the Hanoi unit. At the meeting of the High Performance Sports Department I of the Sports Department with athletes of the national gymnastics team on January 16, all athletes confirmed that no coach had ever collected money from athletes.

The inspection results show that: The coaching board of the national gymnastics team was not involved in the division of bonus percentages for the national gymnastics team's athletes. Coach NTD committed wrongdoing by receiving money from athlete Pham Nhu Phuong.

This afternoon (January 17), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will chair a meeting with the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, and the national team's coaching staff to review the entire incident that just happened. This includes the fact that the two head coaches of the national gymnastics team clocked in on the athletes' days off (Saturday and Sunday) even though the athletes did not practice. The athletes still receive training money but must deduct half of it for the coaches to pay into the team fund.

It is possible that the industry leaders will propose a temporary disciplinary plan. After coach NTD was suspended from training, it is likely that the two head coaches of the men's and women's gymnastics teams will be dismissed from their positions in the team. The leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed that they will thoroughly investigate to clarify the incident. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong.
