Officials from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City guide parents of students at AISVN American International School on school transfer procedures.
At the meeting to guide parents of students of American International School AISVN to transfer schools, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that following the direction of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training has coordinated with the Departments of Education and Training and public and non-public schools as well as international schools to review the number of students of American International School AISVN who have transferred. The results showed that by the evening of August 27, there were about 360 students who had not transferred schools, of which more than 90 students did not have relevant information such as identification numbers. The total number of students at this school is about 1,000.
At the same time, the Department of Education and Training also coordinated to review the facilities, rooms, equipment, and personnel to ensure they are qualified to receive students from AISVN American International School; the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts have distributed students to schools suitable for their current residence based on information about student identification and residence.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, spoke at the guidance session for parents.
According to records, this afternoon, at the 2 transfer support points, there were a total of 9 parents of students. Of which, 5 parents who already had a place for their children came to discuss more information about transferring schools; 4 parents of students discussed their transfer wishes and were introduced to the school corresponding to their wishes.
Parent XH (Binh Chanh District) proposed that her child continue to study at a public secondary school near her home in the new school year to facilitate studying and commuting, in accordance with the family's current economic conditions. After that, the parents had the Department of Education and Training staff complete the procedures to transfer the student to Trung Son Secondary School (Binh Chanh District).
The Department of Education and Training and districts provide maximum support for school transfers.
An official from the Department of Education and Training said that last night, August 27, after reviewing the data, the Department connected with parents on the system to notify them about online school transfer procedures and this afternoon continued to organize instructions on direct school transfer procedures. The Department of Education and Training will provide maximum support to parents when transferring schools so that their children can be ready for the new school year. After today, the remaining cases, if they are primary or secondary school students, can contact the Department of Education and Training where they reside; if they are high school students, contact the Department of Education and Training for support.
"At this time, the American International School AISVN is not qualified to resume operations. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has issued a document suspending the school's educational activities. Therefore, we hope that parents will follow the documents and instructions of the department to coordinate to help students have a stable place to study in the new school year. When students transfer to a new school, depending on the actual situation, the schools will have different support," said Mr. Quoc.
Also today, August 28, Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Head of the Tax Department of District 7, Nha Be District, said that AIS American International Education Joint Stock Company, the investor of AISVN American International School, owes more than 127 billion VND in taxes. The tax authority has applied many coercive measures such as deducting bank accounts, stopping the use of invoices, and temporarily suspending the exit of the head but to no avail. Therefore, the Tax Department of District 7, Nha Be District has sent a document to the City People's Committee and the Department of Planning and Investment requesting the revocation of the school's establishment license.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training decided to suspend the operation of the American International School AISVN from July 1 due to failure to ensure teaching conditions. The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requested parents of students at AISVN to quickly transfer their children to other schools to ensure that their studies are not interrupted before the new school year. The system of international schools teaching the IB program or public schools in the city will create all conditions to accept students regardless of financial difficulties or procedural problems.
