According to the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training, the goal of early admission is for excellent students, but in recent years this has only benefited weak students.
At the admission and career counseling festival at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education this morning (January 5), Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the Ministry will consider adding more entrance thresholds for health and pedagogy compared to the previously announced draft.
According to Ms. Thuy, this comes from the fact that independent candidates cannot return to high school to improve their results, while they still want to study pedagogy and health. Therefore, in addition to the admission threshold of the academic transcript, the Ministry can add an admission threshold of the high school graduation exam score.
The Ministry will also eliminate the concept of early admission, because candidates can only pass one school with one wish and must log their wishes into the system. On the other hand, early admission wastes resources of schools and candidates.
“The goal of early admission in the past was to target excellent students, but in recent years it has only benefited weak students. Why do we have to prioritize these students?” Ms. Thuy said.

According to Ms. Thuy, regarding the admission based on transcripts, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that schools must use the entire 12th grade academic results, which is to limit students from not focusing on their studies in their final year.
The Director of the Department of Higher Education requires universities to have methods and methods for converting points of equivalent admission methods. Specifically, 7 points of this method is equivalent to 6.5 points of another method. Thus, there is no regulation on allocating quotas for each method, but the admission principle will be taken from top to bottom.
Schools should also note that the admission methods for a major/group of majors should be limited, and should not be too many. The number of common subjects between groups should be 50% or more similar.
