The forum "Entrepreneurial Culture 2025" organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on the afternoon of April 15 attracted nearly 200 delegates representing management agencies, experts and enterprises.

Responsibility goes hand in hand with business ethics

In his opening speech, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong emphasized: 2024 has ended with many economic achievements, creating a solid foundation for the target of higher growth in 2025. Accordingly, the private economic sector, especially the business community, plays a central role in promoting growth, fueling national aspirations in the new era of development.

Enterprises around the world in general and Vietnamese enterprises in particular are increasingly applying the ESG criteria, which stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. This is a set of criteria used to assess the level of sustainable development and non-financial impact of an enterprise. ESG practices are also a specific way for enterprises to demonstrate their responsible business philosophy.

Notably, Mr. Pham Tan Cong affirmed that business ethics and culture need to be built from businesses and businessmen themselves. Therefore, VCCI has issued 6 business ethics rules, included them in general textbooks and implemented a long-term project on building business ethics until 2030.

The 6 ethical rules of Entrepreneurs include: (1) creating economic value for society; (2) obeying the law; (3) being transparent, fair, and honest; (4) being creative, cooperative, and developing together; (5) respecting nature and protecting the environment; (6) being patriotic and responsible to society and family. These 6 rules have now been included in the textbooks of Economics and Law Education by the Ministry of Education and Training to teach students.

"VCCI will continue to accompany businesses to promote ethical standards, social responsibility, improve governance and preserve national values. At the same time, VCCI will closely coordinate with ministries and branches to replicate responsible business models," Mr. Pham Tan Cong affirmed.

Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Phan Xuan Thuy also assessed: VCCI has proactively promoted corporate culture for the sake of harmonious interests - sustainable development. On that basis, business culture and business ethics are the foundation of responsible business. In the context of globalization and the 4.0 industrial revolution, economic competition is not only based on profit but also on human values, reputation and social responsibility. Business ethics, as President Ho Chi Minh once advised: "Getting rich is not only for yourself but also for the people and the country", is the compass that guides all production and business activities.

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy suggested: Businessmen need to consider ethics as the core "brand"; VCCI and associations continue to spread business ethics values; State agencies must perfect institutions to create a transparent environment.

"The organization of the Conference to disseminate Resolution 41/NQ-TW with more than 206,000 delegates attending is a testament to the engagement of the entire political system in developing the team of entrepreneurs in the new period. Up to now, the Government, ministries, branches and localities have issued action programs to implement the Party's Resolution, demonstrating the determination and determination of the entire political system in promoting the development of the team of entrepreneurs and enterprises in the new period," Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy emphasized.

Corporate culture – the pillar for sustainable development

The representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed: Corporate culture is the root that creates internal strength, the foundation that helps businesses develop in the long term. At the same time, the Party's Resolutions all focus on building corporate culture as part of the national development strategy.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with many units to issue the Vietnamese Business Culture Criteria and organize the annual National Forum. In addition, a series of seminars, propaganda, and selection of enterprises meeting cultural standards have also been widely deployed.

In particular, the representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism highly appreciated the strong participation of many enterprises, including those that proactively built a culture based on national values. This not only demonstrates the mettle of entrepreneurs but also spreads community responsibility.

From an academic perspective, Dr. Luong Minh Huan, Director of the Institute for Enterprise Development (VCCI), analyzed: Vietnamese business culture has many similarities with Asian countries, but there is still a power gap and a risk-avoidance mindset. Therefore, he recommended that management agencies promote values such as humanity, collective spirit and gender equality.

In addition, businesses also need to adjust their business models, improve their creativity, and address inequality in opportunities and advancement. In particular, he emphasized the need to improve the culture of behavior from local authorities towards businesses.

From the perspective of enterprises, Ms. Bui Thi Le Phuong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Internal Control and Governance Association, CEO of Centax Finance and Accounting Tax Company, gives specific steps to develop corporate culture: defining core values, collecting employee feedback, effective internal communication, appropriate rewards and maintaining consistency in leadership behavior. Thus, organizational culture will be built from internal strength and daily practical behavior.

Delegates agreed that entrepreneurs play a central role in creating and maintaining corporate culture. Through inspiration, establishing values and leading by behavior, the head of the enterprise is the decisive factor in forming the internal cultural identity.

Mr. Minh
