According to a reporter from the Lao Dong Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City, there are still many customers coming to bank counters to update biometric data for money transfers.
The inability to authenticate faces to transfer money over 10 million VND has caused business people who regularly transact money through banks to stagnate.
Mr. Hoang Ha (residing in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that he receives his salary and makes all expenses through Vietcombank's application, but for the past two days, he has been updating biometric data to synchronize data from his chip-embedded ID card and payment account but has not been successful.
"I have tried many times but my iPhone 15 often reports an out-of-sync error. I just heard from friends that the iPhone 15 line does not place the chip under the back of the phone but places the CCCD chip right at the top of the phone. I plan to try again tonight when I get home" - Mr. Ha said.
Some other customers also "sweat" to update biometrics. Mr. Nguyen Van (living in Ho Chi Minh City) said that he used iPhone 15promax when he inserted the chip-embedded ID card into the positions instructed by the bank, read all kinds of information... but still could not.
"I had to go to the bank counter to ask for help from the bank staff, but I also tried the NFC reading positions on the back of the phone. When I tried reading the chip right on the top of the phone... it was successful after a few seconds," said Mr. Van.
Many other customers shared that they had successfully updated their biometric data today, when the banking system was less overloaded.
Many customers continue to update biometric data on July 2
Orient Commercial Bank (OCB) said that on July 2, the OCB OMNI 4.0 digital banking system has been operating quite stably. OCB has deployed additional technology infrastructure for biometric authentication to ensure stable and fast customer registration and biometric authentication transactions. At branches and transaction offices, the bank has also increased resources and added tools to support customers in biometric registration.
Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) said that so far, 500,000 customers have successfully registered to deploy facial authentication.
Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) said that as of July 1, more than 1.4 million of the bank's customers had successfully registered to update biometric data on Techcombank Mobile, accounting for more than 80% of customers regularly making transactions worth over VND10 million.
