For decades, Mr. Tran Van Tieng's family (Ong Non hamlet, Tan Trung commune) has lived in a dilapidated, leaky 50 m2 house with 6 people. He himself has a stroke and is receiving monthly social protection from the State. The family's life depends on only a few fields of rice to grow crops, so it is extremely difficult.

Due to the difficult circumstances, although the house has been in disrepair for many years, the local authorities have repeatedly called on benefactors to support the cost of building a house, but the family has refused because they do not have enough money to repair the house. A sturdy house, enough to protect the whole family from the sun and rain, is an impossible dream for Mr. Tieng's family...
But then his seemingly hopeless wish came true. On January 21, 2025, the People's Committee of Go Cong City issued a plan to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the city. Understanding the difficult circumstances of Mr. Tieng's family, the local Party Committee and government called for support and support for his family to build a spacious and solid house with a total amount of 110 million VND.
Mr. Tieng said: “When the commune officials came to survey and informed that my family was eligible for support to build a house, I was extremely moved. During the construction period, thanks to the uncles and aunts of the commune People's Committee, the hamlet chief and the people in the neighborhood who came to encourage, share, and join hands to support material and labor so that the house could be completed soon. Having a new house, my family members are very excited, this is also the motivation for us to strive to develop the economy and stabilize our lives."
Sharing the same poverty, the family of Mrs. Vo Thi Phi (Go Xoai hamlet, Tan Trung commune) is over 80 years old this year, the family's economy is difficult, and she is considered a poor household in the commune. She lives alone, for many years she has lived in a house with a corrugated iron roof and shabby iron walls.
With the attention of the Party and the State, Ms. Phi was supported with 60 million VND to build a new solid house with an area of 28 m2, which was an extremely great joy for her. Ms. Phi emotionally shared: “Receiving 60 million VND to have a solid house to protect from the sun and rain. I would like to thank the State and local authorities for their attention and help. This is a very big gift, I cannot express it in words”.
In recent years, the movement to eliminate temporary housing has helped stabilize and improve people's lives, while contributing to ensuring security, order and social safety, especially when there was Directive 42 dated November 9, 2024 of the Prime Minister. Tan Trung commune always seeks and creates new and effective ways to meet the dual goal of helping people have stable housing while ensuring security and order in the locality.
TOGETHER, UNITY
According to Vice Chairman of Tan Trung Commune People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Trang, with determination and drastic solutions, up to now, Tan Trung Commune has completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses to support poor and near-poor households; ensuring the completion of the set plan. Achieving the above positive results is thanks to the attention of superior leaders, the efforts and determination of the Party Committee, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and the consensus of the people.
In reality, in order for the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses to be effectively implemented, Party committees, authorities and the Fatherland Front at all levels have done a good job of propagating and mobilizing the people, promoting the socialization of resources, reviewing and meeting with poor households with real needs for building houses, in order to have a plan to propose eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses every year.
Eliminating all temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, and families of meritorious people is a major movement that requires high determination from the entire political system. In addition to the spirit of perseverance and will to overcome difficulties of each poor household, near-poor household, and family of meritorious people, more than ever, the spirit of "mutual love and support" needs to be promoted. The consensus of the business community and all classes of people will become an important resource and spiritual strength, so that the dream of settling down and having a career for poor households becomes a reality. |
In addition to the State's resources, many localities have mobilized the cooperation and contributions of brothers and relatives and support of working days, materials, and household items from local organizations and people to help poor households reduce their burden and make their new homes warmer.
The houses named: House of great unity, house of gratitude, shelter of love are built with humane meaning, not only solving the housing problem, but also showing the sharing of love, the solidarity and unanimity of the whole community. At the same time, it is also a message of trust so that poor and disadvantaged households have more motivation to rise up in life.
The results of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households and supporting families of meritorious people facing housing difficulties and dilapidated houses that need to be repaired or rebuilt in recent years have contributed significantly to the results of implementing the local poverty reduction target. Thanks to the support for building and repairing houses, people have confidently escaped poverty and improved their lives, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole Tan Trung commune to 0.32% in 2024.
