Handing over 5 fishermen whose fishing boat was in distress in Phu Yen to their families and authorities

On the morning of August 24, in Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province, ship 475 of Naval Region 4 Command handed over 5 fishermen in distress on fishing boat PY 96389 TS to their families and local authorities.
After ship 475 safely docked at Cam Ranh base, representatives of the leaders of Region 4 Command, representatives of officers and soldiers of ship 475 and functional agencies came to encourage and visit the fishermen in distress.
Previously, on August 18, fishing boat PY 96389 TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Viet Thao, born in 1978 (Phu Yen), with 4 fishermen on board, the boat was fishing for tuna, departing on July 27 from Dong Tac fishing port, Phu Yen province.

During the exploitation and fishing process, the PY 96389 TS ship ran aground at 12:55 p.m. the same day, about 600 meters west of Co Lin Island, Truong Sa Archipelago. The 5 fishermen and the PY 96389 TS fishing boat in distress were assisted by Ship 739, Navy Squadron 129 on duty at Sinh Ton Island with 2 Binh Thuan fishing boats to survey and tow the fishing boat.
Through survey, the fishing boat was stranded at the stern, tilted 60 degrees to the left, water flooded into the compartment 50cm, at this time the health condition of the fisherman is stable.

On August 19-20, ship 739 deployed measures to rescue the fishing boat but was unsuccessful because the hull had two holes larger than 50cm, and the bow of the ship was floating 2-3m above the water surface.
On August 20, the captain of fishing boat PY 96389 TS decided to abandon the boat and coordinate with Co Lin Island. Ship 739 made a record confirming the incident and picked up 5 fishermen and handed them over to Co Lin Island.

Receiving orders from the Military Command, the Region 4 Command directed Co Lin Island to hand over 5 crew members of the fishing boat to Ship 475 of Region 4, which was on duty at Da Nam Island, to move down to pick up the 5 fishermen at 11:00 p.m. on August 22 to bring them back to shore for handover.
After the fishermen were brought aboard, the leaders and commanders of Ship 475 arranged for food, accommodation, and health care for the fishermen. Currently, the health of the 5 fishermen is normal and safe. The Command of Region 4 handed over the fishermen to their families and local authorities at 10:30 a.m. on August 24.

At 12:00 noon on August 23, when ship 524 was on combat readiness duty, protecting the waters of Cam Ranh Military Base, it received a notice to assist a Binh Dinh fishing boat that had been punctured and was at risk of sinking, located approximately 2 nautical miles from the ship, east of Hon Mieu Ngoai (Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa).
Upon receiving the order, ship 524 quickly maneuvered to the location of the fishing boat in distress. After 15 minutes, ship 524 discovered fishing boat Binh Dinh 95008 TS drifting.

The officers and soldiers of ship 524 quickly made ropes and pulled the distressed fishing boat to the North Hon Mieu Ngoai shoal, with the support of 2 Khanh Hoa fishing boats. At the same time, they fixed the problem for the fishing boat. By 3am on August 24, fishing boat BD 95008 TS had been fixed.
Ship 524 guided fishermen out of the restricted waters safely. Then Khanh Hoa fishing boat supported towing Binh Dinh fishing boat 95008 TS back to Nha Trang.
