On the morning of October 23, a fire broke out at Pho Quang Pagoda, Xuan Lung Commune, Lam Thao District. On the same day, Lam Thao District People's Committee issued Document No. 401/BC-UBND to quickly report on the fire situation.
Pho Quang Pagoda (also known as Xuan Lung Pagoda) caught fire on the morning of October 23.
Specifically, at around 10am, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang (born in 1965, living in Zone 4, Xuan Lung Commune, Lam Thao District) was the first person to discover that the left corner of the Tam Bao shrine in the pagoda was on fire. He called on the people around to use fire extinguishers and available tools to put out the fire. However, the fire continued to spread to the surrounding area. Immediately afterwards, Mr. Quang called the authorities.
Lam Thao District has directed the authorities to notify Lam Thao Superphosphate and Chemical Joint Stock Company to coordinate the deployment of fire trucks. At the same time, it proposed that the Provincial Police mobilize specialized fire fighting vehicles, send forces to ensure security, order, traffic safety, and protect the scene to serve the verification and clarification of the cause of the fire. At around 11:40, the fire was controlled and extinguished.
As a result, there were no human casualties. All the wooden parts, the roof tiles, and the electrical system were burned down. The clay and wooden statues in the Tam Bao temple were damaged by the heat. The total damage was about 25 billion VND. Currently, the authorities are continuing to investigate, verify, and clarify the cause of the fire.
