VNPT receives 5G service business license

VnExpressVnExpress18/04/2024

VNPT Group has just been granted a license to establish a network and provide terrestrial mobile information services using 5G technology, on the afternoon of April 15.

Speaking at the event, Mr. To Dung Thai, Chairman of VNPT, shared that the licensing of network establishment and provision of terrestrial mobile information services using 5G technology is a turning point for businesses to be able to carry out procedures to deploy services to meet customer needs.

With the license to establish a network and provide terrestrial mobile information services using 5G technology, VNPT Group will plan to deploy nationwide, prioritizing infrastructure development towards improving user experience, providing high speed, large capacity, lowest latency while still optimizing state investment capital costs, increasing business efficiency. In the immediate future, the unit will focus on deploying in areas requiring high interaction, real-time network communication, areas such as high-tech zones, urban areas, universities, etc.

5G deployment is currently one of the key tasks of the "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2030" program. Compared to previous generations of networks, 5G provides improved data throughput, the network uses less energy, supports artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and has a signal sending and receiving latency of only 1/5 compared to 4G. The 5G network will use about 10 times less energy than 4G, contributing to creating a sustainable and energy-saving digital environment.

With its advantages in speed, connectivity, and security, 5G combined with edge computing will enable businesses to process and analyze larger volumes of data at optimal costs, enabling the widespread use of AI-enabled technologies and IoT applications in many fields. Using this network can help businesses increase revenue and value as they are better equipped to monetize massive amounts of data. Technological developments, supported by 5G, will expand the mobile ecosystem into new industries, benefiting the logistics and hi-tech agriculture sectors.

In the logistics sector, 5G will help logistics businesses that currently use IoT devices to grow to the next level. It solves the common problem of delays in shipping and information to customers. With low latency, logistics service providers can continuously track and update the status of shipments, improving the ability to predict location and arrival time.

For agriculture, 5G deployment is key to achieving high-tech agriculture. With speeds 10 times faster than 4G, wireless sensors connected via 5G networks will increase the amount of real-time data and facilitate precision farming, allowing for the deployment of large numbers of IoT devices. Farmers can also use health monitoring devices for livestock, which can provide much more accurate and timely health data. This allows for a significant reduction in antibiotic use without compromising the safety of the food supply chain.

5G also helps promote many other areas such as manufacturing, smart traffic management, energy management, construction and mining, digital education, remote healthcare, smart retail and smart cities... The telecommunications market also benefits, 5G will be a new source of revenue when a large number of subscribers decide to switch to newer and faster network technology.
