These are intellectuals with scientific prestige, many practical and effective contributions, influential in the development of the industry, agencies and units; recognized by society.
On the morning of August 23, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) announced the program to honor outstanding science and technology (S&T) intellectuals in 2024.
The honoring activity has received the attention and direction of Party and State leaders, who have taken the time to attend, trusted and assigned responsibility to the country's intellectuals in the work of disseminating scientific knowledge to the people, and providing advice and criticism on policies to build the country.
The activity of honoring outstanding scientific and technological intellectuals is considered a form of patriotic emulation, with great humanitarian significance, demonstrating the Party and State's concern, respect and treatment of intellectuals, and at the same time encouraging and recognizing individuals with many outstanding contributions to the cause of socio-economic development, national defense and security protection of the country in general and the development of VUSTA in particular.
This activity has contributed to raising awareness of all levels, sectors and the whole society about the position and role of the scientific and technological intellectual team and the great contributions of the VUSTA system to the cause of national construction and development.
The 5th ceremony to honor outstanding science and technology intellectuals in 2024 will be held on August 28 in Hanoi. There will be 135 science and technology intellectuals honored.
The 135 outstanding intellectuals of 2024 have been carefully selected by the VUSTA Selection Council. Those selected for honor are intellectuals who have worked in research institutes, universities, enterprises, agencies of sectors, fields, localities, and organizations in the VUSTA system for 10 years or more, have scientific prestige, have made many practical and effective contributions, and have influence on the development of the sector, agency, and unit; are recognized by society, nominated by that agency or unit, and introduced by agencies and units in the VUSTA system.
Among the 135 outstanding science and technology intellectuals honored this time, there are 3 Labor Heroes; 14 women and 121 men.
The senior intellectuals include: Prof. Dr. Trinh Van Tu, born in 1929 (95 years old), former Vice President and General Secretary of VUSTA; Prof. Dr. Dang Huu, born in 1930 (94 years old), former member of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Science and Education Committee, former Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (now the Ministry of Science and Technology).
Young intellectuals include MSc. Specialist Doctor II Doan Tien Duong , born in 1984 (40 years old), Member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Bac Giang province, Chairman of the Young Physicians Association of Bac Giang province, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, Head of the Department of Nephrology - Urology - Andrology, Bac Giang General Hospital; Engineer Nguyen Xuan Thuy , born in 1984 (40 years old), Member of the Executive Committee of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Quang Ninh province, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Span Construction Technology Design and Development Joint Stock Company; Dr. Nguyen Van Huong , born in 1985 (39 years old), Deputy Head of the Department of Environmental Technology, Institute of New Technology, Ministry of National Defense.
