Vietnam hosts Thailand Meeting for the first time

On August 4, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the Thai Embassy in Vietnam and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to organize the first 'Meet Thailand' Conference with the participation of more than 400 delegates.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam Nikorndej Balankura and more than 150 delegates representing ministries, localities and leading corporations/enterprises of Thailand (ThaiCham, SCG, CP, Ratch...) attended.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Thailand after 47 years of establishing diplomatic relations has become increasingly close and trustworthy.

People-to-people exchange and local cooperation activities have developed strongly, substantially, and increasingly in-depth; practical and effective economic cooperation is a bright spot in the bilateral relationship.

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that, with the motto of " taking people, localities and businesses as the center of service ", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to promote its role as a bridge, creating many forums and spaces for Vietnamese localities, businesses and Thai partners to meet, exchange, and move towards practical and effective cooperation, contributing to the successful implementation of the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the period 2022-2027 and the "Three Connections" Strategy set forth by the two countries' senior leaders.

Representing the host locality, Mr. Vo Van Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, hopes that with the strengths and experience in technology, finance, international market network, and business management skills of Thai enterprises, when combined with the advantages of Vietnamese localities, it will bring great and practical benefits to both sides.

Ambassador Nikorndej Balankura emphasized that the highlight of Thai investors is that they are “ quality investors ” – always considering business activities with responsibility and sustainable development of the locality and local people.

At the first discussion session on “Renewable energy - high-tech agriculture”, the parties shared development orientations, policies, proposals, recommendations, difficulties and advantages in the development and cooperation process in this field.

The second discussion session on “East-West Corridor: Promoting cooperation and supply chain integration” recorded many specific and important opinions of the parties in joining hands to cooperate in developing the East-West Corridor to integrate regional and global supply chains.

Within the framework of the event, on the afternoon of August 3, the Quang Tri - Thailand Connection Seminar took place, attracting more than 250 delegates. The Organizing Committee also arranged and organized nearly 100 working meetings, connecting and exchanging in person and online.

In addition, the exhibition space of typical Vietnamese - Thai products with nearly 40 booths attracted the attention of many conference delegates and local people.

Meet Thailand is an activity within the series of Ambassadors' Meeting events initiated and implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2015. This is the first Meet Thailand Conference held on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1976-2023) and 10 years of establishing the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand (2013-2023).
