At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi discussed with Cuban Minister Rene Mesa Villafana about the cooperation situation and directions to promote cooperation in the coming time.

Regarding bilateral cooperation in the field of construction, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of construction that the two Ministers signed in April 2023 within the framework of the official visit to Cuba by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction is ready to share information and experience in State management of the construction sector, especially in the fields of housing and urban development, construction investment management, and construction materials development.

Information sharing and experience exchange will be carried out in many forms such as through online conferences or through working sessions when exchanging delegations of each side...

Regarding the implementation of cooperation agreements between construction enterprises of the two countries within the framework of the Intergovernmental Committee, according to the mid-term review report 40, enterprises of both sides have made efforts to strengthen cooperation activities and achieved some positive results. Regarding the investment project in Cuba of Viglacera Corporation and Thai Binh Company, production and business activities have been maintained, contributing to supplying goods to the Cuban market and creating jobs for officials and employees.

In addition to the achieved results, the SanVig joint venture project in Cuba still faces many difficulties in production due to the lack of foreign currency arrangements from the Cuban bank to import raw materials for production. Although attention has been paid to the supply of gas and electricity, it is still unstable, affecting the productivity of the floor tile factory and the sanitary ware factory.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi asked Minister Rene Mesa Villafana to direct relevant Cuban agencies to prioritize removing difficulties for the SanVig joint venture, creating favorable conditions for businesses to feel secure in production, and when ensuring the operation of 90% of the factory's design capacity, they can expand their investment in Cuba.

Regarding Dinvai Company's operations in Vietnam, HUD Corporation and Coninco Vietnam Company have created conditions for Dinvai Vietnam Company to participate in providing construction supervision consulting services for a number of projects in Vietnam.

However, according to Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, the current workload is low and not as expected by Dinvai Company. The Minister will direct HUD, Coninco, and Viglacera to pay more attention and create more favorable conditions for Dinvai in the coming time.

It is known that after participating in the Cuban delegation led by the President of the Cuban National Assembly from September 24-27, Minister Rene Mesa Villafana will discuss with construction enterprises in Hanoi and meet with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as well as work with enterprises here.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that at the upcoming working sessions, the two sides need to discuss the contents and feasible cooperation plans and discuss solutions to remove difficulties, contributing to improving the effectiveness of cooperation, bringing practical benefits to businesses of both sides, contributing to promoting comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
