Yen Duong Commune (Ha Trung) is a land with a long-standing historical and cultural tradition. Proud of their homeland, the people here have been doing practical work to preserve and promote the value of the relics.
People come to Tran Hung Dao temple to burn incense, pray for blessings and peace.
During the years of resistance against the Yuan-Mongol army, the Tran king and his subjects chose Tho Khoi village, Yen Duong commune (Ha Trung) as a place to gather soldiers and practice martial arts to fight against foreign invaders. The book "Geography of Ha Trung district" wrote: "According to historical researchers in the province and in the country, Tho Khoi area and some surrounding areas were the places where in 1285, in order to preserve forces and avoid siege and attack by the Yuan-Mongol invaders, Tran Hung Dao - a talented general, directly took the two Tran kings along the Than Phu - Hoat river route to Tho Khoi area for safe refuge. After a period of consolidating forces in Tho Khoi and the Northeast of Ha Trung, in May 1285, Tran Hung Dao decided to march to the North by surprise and coordinated with other armies to achieve resounding victories such as Ham Tu, Chuong Duong, Tay Ket to finally sweep the Yuan-Mongol invaders out of our country's territory".
In memory of the merits of Hung Dao Vuong, the people of Tho Khoi village built a temple. In 1996, Tran Hung Dao Temple was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic. Every year, Tran Hung Dao Temple holds two major festivals: the full moon of January, called the opening ceremony, and the official festival on the death anniversary of Saint Tran (19th to 21st of August in the lunar calendar). The temple still preserves valuable historical and cultural artifacts, such as: dragon throne, memorial tablet, stone incense bowl, worship hat, sword, especially the seal.
In 2017, Tran Hung Dao Temple continued to be restored and embellished with socialized resources, making the temple landscape more spacious but still retaining the inherent value of the relic. With a beautiful location, unique and attractive architectural and decorative patterns, along with its sacredness, Tran Hung Dao Temple is not only an attraction for tourists inside and outside the province but also a place for cultural and religious activities of Thanh people.
Along with Tran Hung Dao Temple, Yen Duong Commune People are also proud to have the national historical and cultural relic Dinh Trung communal house. Having gone through many historical events, Dinh Trung communal house still retains its unique and characteristic architectural features of a Vietnamese communal house. Currently, Dinh Trung communal house has been restored and embellished by the State to meet the spiritual needs of local people and visitors to the festival. Every year on the 18th day of the first lunar month, the people of the commune organize the traditional festival of Dinh Trung communal house to pay their respects to the village guardian spirit To Hien Thanh.
Proud of the homeland with many historical and cultural relics, in recent years, the Party Committee, government and people of Yen Duong commune have always made efforts to protect, preserve and promote the values of the relics through practical actions, such as: participating in the protection and contributing labor and money to renovate the grounds of the relics; cleaning the environment around the relics; respectfully burning incense on the first days of the month and the full moon days...
Mr. Tran Quang Vien, a resident of Yen Duong commune who actively participates in protecting relics, said: "Realizing my responsibility in preserving and promoting the values of relics, in addition to propagating and mobilizing children in my family and clan to actively participate in protecting relics, I myself also contribute my efforts and money to restore and renovate local historical and cultural relics. Seeing the relics becoming more and more spacious and clean, I feel proud and will continue to work with the people to do practical work to preserve and promote the values of the relics."
In addition to strengthening the management of relics, Yen Duong commune also coordinates with local schools to promote propaganda and education on the value of relics for the younger generation in the commune. Thereby, arousing the sense of responsibility, pride and respect for the traditional cultural values of the nation.
At Yen Duong Secondary School, educating students about the value of relics is not only done by the school through experiential activities at historical and cultural relics in the commune. Teacher Tong Duc Nhu, Principal of Yen Duong Secondary School, said: "To help students understand the origin and cultural value of historical and cultural relics in the land where they were born and raised, in recent times, Yen Duong Secondary School has organized many activities, such as: taking care of relics; teaching in the field; organizing for students to visit and learn about relics... This helps students understand the value of relics and have awareness of protecting local historical and cultural relics".
Mr. Lai The Thien, Vice Chairman of Yen Duong Commune People's Committee, said: Currently, Yen Duong commune has 3 ranked historical and cultural relics, of which 2 relics are recognized as national historical relics. These relics are not only places for spiritual activities but also the pride of the people of Yen Duong commune. To preserve and promote the values of the relics, in the coming time, Yen Duong commune will continue to mobilize the people to join hands to renovate, expand the campus and protect the relics.
