(Dan Tri) - Jakob Ingebrigtsen excellently won two gold medals in the men's 1,500m and 3,000m events at the World Indoor Athletics Championships on March 23 in Nanjing (China).
Ingebrigtsen's record is on par with Ethiopian legend Haile Gebrselassie - who won double at the 1999 indoor world championships in Maebashi, Japan.
Ingebrigtsen had no trouble starting the 3,000m and finished in 3 minutes 38.79 seconds. After trailing his rival for a while, he broke through to take the lead midway through the race and beat Britain's Neil Gourley - who won silver - in 3 minutes 39.07 seconds.
American athlete Luke Houser won the bronze medal with a time of 3 minutes 39.17 seconds.

After winning the gold medal with a record time in the men's 3,000m on March 22, Ingebrigtsen continued to step up to the podium in the 1,500m with a time of 3 minutes 38.79 seconds on March 23.
The 24-year-old started at an average pace then accelerated to take the lead in the last 800m of the race and maintained his position until the finish line.
Ingebrigtsen began his athletics career at the age of 16, and just one year later he became the European champion in the 1,500m and 5,000m. After 8 years of competition, Ingebrigtsen has won almost every major title in his huge collection: 10 times gold medal at the European indoor and outdoor championships; 2 gold medals at the world championships and 2 gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics (1,500m) and the Paris Olympics (5,000m).
A few months ago, Ingebrigtsen said he wanted to end his career with 10 world records. He currently holds four: the 2,000m, 3,000m, 3,000m steeplechase and 1,500m indoor.
"Of course it's something special, but it's difficult to compare my record with the legendary Haile Gebrselassie. I just focus on myself and I'm happy to have achieved this.
I don't want to compare the past with the present, but I will try to do more when I have the chance," Ingebrigtsen shared after winning 2 gold medals in Nanjing (China).
