Coming to Tran Nhan Tong street to buy gold to celebrate her close friend's wedding, Ms. Mai Phuong (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) was surprised to see the gold shop deserted.
Ms. Mai Phuong shared: "Before, you gave me gold on your wedding day, so now I have to try to buy it to give to you as a wedding gift. I will learn from my experience and buy gold earlier tomorrow. If I go later than 10am like today, it will be very difficult to buy it. And it is not certain that it will be sold in the afternoon, so waiting is useless."
Sharing with PV. VietNamNet, an employee of Bao Tin Minh Chau store on Tran Nhan Tong street (Hanoi) said: "This morning, the store sold early to 50 people, each person was allowed to buy a maximum of 5 taels of gold. Within 30-40 minutes, the store announced that it would stop selling. However, the store did not open a second sale in the morning, so there was no situation where people waited longer."
According to this employee, the empty gold shop is not because it has run out of gold, but because it only sells a limited amount. The time when customers are concentrated is within 30-40 minutes, but around noon there are no customers because the shop has stopped selling.
In fact, the shops on this street still sell gold jewelry, however, customers mainly come to buy plain round gold rings.
Mr. Bach - the owner of a nearby tea shop - said that the number of people coming to buy gold these days has been erratic because the gold shop does not sell at fixed hours.
“Yesterday, someone gave me 100,000 VND to keep track of the time, when the store opens for sale, I will call them to come buy gold. Many people come to buy when the store has stopped selling, so they have to go back, which is very time-consuming, and waiting is not known until when,” Mr. Bach said.
The fact that gold shops do not open at fixed hours and the number of sales sessions per day is unclear has created a situation where the shop is only crowded at certain times; the remaining hours, the staff is very leisurely.
Mr. Vu (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) - a person who comes to trade gold here - said: "The gold market is fluctuating unpredictably, how much to sell is the right of the store. But I think, if the store stops selling, it should hang a sign so that people don't have to bother asking, to avoid traffic jams because this street is not wide, just 1-2 cars parking will cause congestion".
In recent days, the domestic gold ring price has been continuously adjusted to increase following the world gold price. Early this morning (September 30), SJC listed the price of gold rings of type 1-5 at only 81.5-83 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Doji kept the price of 9999 round gold rings at 82.75 million VND/tael for buying and 83.45 million VND/tael for selling.
The price of plain round gold rings is only 50,000 VND/tael away from the price of SJC gold bars.
The gold shop is deserted outside, packed inside, gold rings are scarce.
Gold rings seize the opportunity of scarce SJC to 'take off', will gold prices increase this week?
The price of buying gold rings is a million dong per tael higher than that of SJC gold bars.
