This morning (December 29), the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), the Department of Transport and contractors jointly launched a 365-day and night competition to speed up the construction progress of the Ring Road 3 project through Ho Chi Minh City.

The competition period starts from January 1 to December 31, 2025. The investor, construction contractors, and supervision consultants are implementing 10 contracted packages, with the goal of completing some items of the XL1 package (highway interchange area) before April 30, 2025 to synchronize with the Nhon Trach bridge construction package, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway; opening the entire 14.7km overpass of Ring Road 3 in Thu Duc City on December 31, 2025.

The competition also aims to open the entire 32.62km route of 5 construction packages in Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, and Binh Chanh districts to traffic by April 30, 2026; and open the entire route to traffic by June 30, 2026.

At the ceremony, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - said that this signing ceremony was to respond to the peak of "500 days and nights competing to complete 3,000 km of expressway" launched by the Prime Minister.

According to Mr. Cuong, the shape of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 is gradually emerging. The basic bidding packages have completed the piling system of the bridges, and the installation of girders has begun…

Ho Chi Minh City leaders noted that investors and contractors must make detailed plans and update difficulties and obstacles to report to competent authorities for resolution, especially for the 14.7km section of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 overpass through Thu Duc City, connecting the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway to Tan Van intersection (Binh Duong).

"We strive to not only open the technical traffic but also put into operation the 14.7km section through Thu Duc City by December 31, 2025, in order to synchronize with the progress of the Long Thanh International Airport construction project. In addition, the units must ensure the progress of exploiting the entire route, from the Long Thanh - Ben Luc expressway intersection through Nhon Trach bridge to the 14.7km overpass section to Tan Van intersection" - Mr. Cuong emphasized.

The Ring Road 3 project is over 76km long, with a total investment of over 75,000 billion VND, passing through Ho Chi Minh City and 3 provinces of Long An, Dong Nai, Binh Duong. Construction started in June 2023, this is a key national transport project, connecting the Southeast region.

The section through Ho Chi Minh City alone is 47.3km long with a total investment of VND41,317 billion, divided into 10 main construction packages. Up to now, after 1.5 years of construction, the project has achieved about 30% of the construction value, basically meeting the schedule as planned.
