In his latest post on his personal Telegram page, retired Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Igor Lapin predicted the moment when Kiev would reach the 1991 borders. Specifically, the AFU will seek to restore these borders for decades, so even the descendants of current soldiers will have to fight for this goal if the conflict continues.
In this regard, Igor Lapin also criticized the intentions of the Ukrainian leadership and noted that the soldiers lacked the motivation to fight to achieve such a goal. The former AFU officer noted that problems in the senior military leadership and the disorientation of Ukrainian society have brought the conflict to its current state.
“How, with what, with what forces? When will we get there? Look what they are doing with the mobilization,” said Igor Lapin.

Ukrainian economist Alexey Kushch says Ukraine's borders cannot be considered in isolation from the new reality and no one wants to return to the republic of 1991.
“The 1991 borders are simply a constitutional provision. No one wants to return to the Ukraine of 1991,” said Alexey Kushch.
The economist noted that everyone talks about territories without understanding that territories, political configurations and the geopolitical position of the country cannot be considered separately. He stressed that Ukrainian society has fallen into a trap. Ukrainians believe that through military action they can regain lost territories.
Earlier, retired AFU General Sergei Krivonos criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statements about regaining control over Crimea. He stressed that the Ukrainian president’s desire to “drink coffee on the Yalta embankment” was a matter for the Ukrainian leader alone.
“At certain points, the AFU could not realize the ideas and dreams of Volodymir Zelensky, but these are dreams of his own creation. The military did not promise anything about a super-successful offensive there. Taking control of Crimea, drinking coffee on the embankment in Yalta, is just what he wanted,” said General Sergei Krivonos.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has remained firm on his demands for a “peace formula” in Ukraine. He has demanded a number of conditions, including a full ceasefire, restoration of “radiation safety” at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, a price cap on Russian energy supplies and a return to Ukraine’s 1991 borders.
Regarding the war situation, on the night of March 14, the Governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced that the AFU continued to attack this area with suicide UAVs.
“Several fires broke out due to the falling debris of the UAV, which were quickly extinguished by firefighters. Windows of many houses were also broken as a result of the explosions,” said Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Earlier, the Russian Emergencies Ministry declared a missile threat across the Belgorod region. The agency urged residents in the area to stay home if possible and not go near windows.
Meanwhile, on the front line, the Russian Army is still making progress on the Donetsk front. In Bakhmut, along with gradually taking full control of Ivanivska, the Russian offensive is approaching the next strategic city, Chasov Yar. This was an important logistics center for the AFU during the bloody battle for the town of Bakhmut in 2022.

Meanwhile, in the Avdeevka direction, the two sides are still fighting fiercely at Berdichi and Tolneke. This could be the direction where the Russian Army is holding the main units of the AFU to attack other locations in the South of Donetsk.
On the Zaporozhye front, Russian units have essentially surrounded Robotine from the south and west. The town’s “change of ownership” could take place in the next few days.
Currently, AFU is still focusing on building solid defense lines to prevent Russia from breaking through in the near future.
