Provincial People's Committee works with the Tam Nong Project Preparation Board, Phase 2

On the morning of August 4, Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a working session with the Tam Nong Project Preparation Board, Phase 2, to listen to a progress report on the feasibility study report of the Project "Emission Reduction in the Central Highlands and South Central Coast of Vietnam to contribute to the implementation of the goals of the National REDD + Action Program in Ninh Thuan Province (RECAF Ninh Thuan Project).

The RECAF Ninh Thuan project was approved by the Prime Minister for investment proposal in Decision No. 1312/QD-TTg dated November 9, 2023 and the Provincial People's Council approved the investment policy in Resolution No. 58/NQ-HDND dated December 14, 2023. The project scale includes 3 components, expected to be implemented in 23 communes in the districts of Ninh Son, Bac Ai, Ninh Hai and Thuan Bac, with a total investment of VND 441,256 billion, including ODA loans, non-refundable aid capital, and counterpart capital from the state budget. The project's objective is to support the development and promotion of product value chains that do not cause deforestation, ensuring income from agricultural cultivation for people in the project area; new investment, upgrading infrastructure for production, increasing the ability to respond to climate change and forest protection activities...

Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the meeting.

According to the Tam Nong Project Preparation Board, Phase 2, the technical support consulting team has completed the survey and information collection at departments, branches, and localities; completed the design drawings of construction works; reviewed the current status, associated value chains, and the number of beneficiaries.

In his concluding remarks at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Tam Nong Project Preparation Board, Phase 2, to continue to coordinate with the consulting group, departments, branches and localities to continue to collect information and consult with the community to create consensus among the people when implementing the project. Urgently review and speed up the completion of the feasibility study report on the basis of ensuring quality, completeness of content and technical factors and compliance with the prescribed procedures and order, minimizing project adjustments that delay the submission to competent authorities for consideration and approval.
