Holding Chinese Taipei to a 2-2 draw, the Vietnamese women's futsal team ended the 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers on the afternoon of January 19 with a 3-match unbeaten streak and the top spot in Group D.
In this match, the Vietnamese women's futsal team took the initiative to attack first but let the opponent take the lead twice, 1-0 and then 2-1. The Vietnamese team, with the brilliance of Thanh Ngan and Bien Thi Hang, brought the match back to the starting line twice. In which, Bien Thi Hang scored the decisive goal when there were only 2 minutes left in the match by dribbling from the middle of the field and then unexpectedly finishing from the left wing.

Drawing 2-2 with Chinese Taipei in the final round of the group stage, the Vietnamese women's futsal team and this team both advanced. The Vietnamese team had the same 7 points as Chinese Taipei but thanks to a better goal difference (+25 compared to +22), they won the top spot in the group. In this tournament, the Vietnamese women's futsal team scored 28 goals and only conceded 3 goals after 3 matches.
On the journey to the 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnamese women's futsal team set a tournament record, becoming the team with the biggest win after 3 seasons of organization (including the qualifiers). The 21-0 victory over Macau (China) is the biggest mark of Vietnamese women's futsal since the first international match in October 2007 (the previous biggest win was 10-0 against the Philippines women's team).
The AFC Women’s Futsal Championship has been held since 2015 and the previous two seasons, the AFC did not organize a qualifying round. The Vietnamese women’s team reached the bronze medal match in 2018 when they lost to Thailand. This year’s edition of the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup will take place from May 7 to 18 in China.
The tournament takes place with a special situation, when the 3 teams with the best results in the tournament will join the host Philippines to participate in the first Women's Futsal World Cup held in 2026.
