Lao Cai youth pay tribute to heroic martyrs

Youth Union of Provincial Agencies and Enterprises offered incense to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.

Early in the morning of a day at the end of July, at the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Duyen Hai Ward, Lao Cai City, more than 100 members of the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises were present to clean, sanitize, and offer incense at the martyrs’ graves. Afterwards, the Youth Union members reviewed the heroic history of the nation’s struggle, fostering the tradition of “remembering the source of water” of generations of Vietnamese people.

After the activities at the cemetery, the members of the Provincial Agencies - Enterprises Bloc Youth Union moved to Dong Tuyen commune to carry out other meaningful activities such as giving gifts, medical examinations, and free medicine to 18 policy families, meritorious people, and former youth volunteers in the commune.

Doctor Luong Ngoc Dich, Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Provincial General Hospital said: Participating in the activity of examining and giving free medicine to families of people with meritorious services and former youth volunteers, I feel honored and proud to contribute my youth to show gratitude and take care of the health of people with meritorious services to the revolution.

Youth Union members light candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.

In a sacred and emotional atmosphere, on the evening of July 26, 2024, 350 union members and youths from all levels of the union came to the Nam Cuong Ward Martyrs' Cemetery to light candles and offer incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs. All reviewed the glorious and heroic history in the process of building and defending the country, remembering Uncle Ho's teachings: "The blood of the martyrs has dyed the revolutionary flag even more red. The sacrifice of the heroic martyrs has prepared for our country to blossom with independence and freedom. Therefore, for those loyal children, the Government and the people must repay them in a worthy way". Lao Cai youth promise to promote their spiritual and intellectual strength, study, compete, work, and be creative, worthy of the sacrifice of the heroic martyrs.

Incense offering and candle lighting activities to pay tribute to heroic martyrs were simultaneously deployed.

Dang Thi Minh Huyen, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Provincial Center for Vocational Guidance and Continuing Education, was moved: Together with the youth of all levels of the Youth Union participating in the candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs at the Nam Cuong Ward Martyrs' Cemetery, I was once again reminded of the national spirit, the morality of drinking water and remembering its source, and was more proud of the glorious history of the nation. I promise to constantly study, work, and be creative to contribute to building the locality to become more and more prosperous.

Also on the evening of July 26, thousands of young hearts turned to the souls of heroic martyrs, and flickering candles were lit at 17 martyr cemeteries and 24 memorial steles in the province. In addition, in July, all levels of the Youth Union simultaneously carried out practical gratitude activities such as giving gifts to war invalids, families of martyrs, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and youth volunteers...

More than 200 gratitude activities were carried out.

Ms. Giang Thi Mai, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: In recent times, the movement "Repaying gratitude, remembering the source of water when drinking" associated with the journey "Lao Cai Youth - continuing the story of peace" has been organized with many exciting activities. Thousands of young people have participated in the day "Volunteer soldiers remember the source when drinking water", carried out propaganda activities, youth works and projects, organized more than 200 activities to visit, give gifts, and show gratitude to families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and people with meritorious services to the revolution; and renovated and beautified cemeteries and memorial houses for heroic martyrs.

These meaningful activities have contributed to the whole society in caring for and repaying the merits of those who have contributed to the Fatherland; educating the young generation to live humanely, to appreciate historical values ​​and glorious revolutionary traditions, thereby studying, working and contributing to building the Fatherland and homeland to develop more and more, worthy of the sacrifices of heroic martyrs for national independence and peace.
