The technical opening of the two North-South expressways through Ha Tinh and the simultaneous commencement and inauguration of projects in all three regions are meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

This morning (April 19), the Ministry of Construction presided over and coordinated with Vietnam Television, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and 33 provinces and cities nationwide to organize groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies simultaneously in the North - Central - South regions for key national projects and major works.

The Ha Tinh bridge point took place at the QL8A intersection (Km479+300) in Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district with the opening ceremony of Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang routes under the North - South Eastern Expressway Construction Project, phase 2021 - 2025.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha reported on the implementation process, progress and contents of key projects that were started and inaugurated.

Accordingly, under the drastic and close direction, with the spirit of "only discussing work, no backtracking", "3 shifts, 4 teams, overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, working through holidays" of the government leaders, the great efforts and determination of ministries, branches, localities and enterprises, the spirit and momentum at all construction sites of key and important national projects are always enthusiastic and excited, all with the common goal of striving to bring the works and projects to the finish line on time and ahead of schedule.

There were 80 projects and works simultaneously started and inaugurated on the morning of April 19. Of these, 40 were in the transportation sector , 12 were in industrial and civil construction, 12 were in education, 9 were in social and cultural projects, 5 were in public health, and 2 were in irrigation projects with a total investment of over 445,000 billion VND.

Reviewing some outstanding results achieved by the construction industry, according to Deputy Minister Pham Minh Ha, regarding expressways, out of a total length of more than 2,000km planned to extend from Huu Nghi - Lang Son border gate to Ca Mau, up to now, the Eastern North - South expressway has completed and put into operation 1,443km; 605km is under construction, and the 15km-long Can Tho 2 bridge is being prepared for investment.

Regarding aviation infrastructure, many key projects such as Long Thanh International Airport, expansion of Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports... have been and are being implemented with a spirit of urgency and determination.

Along with 80 works and projects simultaneously starting and inaugurating on the morning of April 19, in Ha Tinh, the opening ceremony of 2 component projects of the North-South expressway in the East phase 2021-2025 took place, including the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi route and the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang route invested by the Thang Long Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction).

These two component projects were started in January 2023 and have now officially opened to traffic; the main route is expected to be put into operation on April 28, 2025, and the project will be completed before June 30, 2025.

QL8 Intersection - the connection point between Dien Chau - Bai Vot Expressway and Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway.

The Bai Vot - Ham Nghi section of the project passes through Duc Tho, Can Loc and Thach Ha districts of Ha Tinh province. Total project investment: 7,643.57 billion VND.

The total length of the route is about 35.28 km passing through Ha Tinh province, of which the road construction length is 33 km; the bridge construction length is 2.28 km.

The route is 35.28/35.28km long, with 3 intersections (intersection of National Highway 8A, Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho district connecting Cau Treo International Border Gate, Hong Linh town; intersection of Provincial Road 548, Trung Loc commune, Can Loc district connecting Nghen town, Dong Loc T-junction historical relic site, National Highway 1 and intersection with Provincial Road 550, Luu Vinh Son commune, Thach Ha district connecting with Ha Tinh city, National Highway 1).

The Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section project passes through the districts of Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, and Ky Anh; total project investment: VND 9,734.62 billion.

The project has a total length of about 54.2km. The starting point is at Km514+300 (coinciding with the starting point of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi component project), in Thach Ha district; the ending point is at Km568+496.07 (coinciding with the starting point of the Vung Ang - Bung component project), in Ky Anh district.

The route opened to traffic has a length of 54.2/54.2km, including 3 intersections (Cam Quan QL1 intersection, Cam Quan commune, Cam Xuyen district through the connecting route to QL1A to Cam Xuyen district center, Thien Cam tourist area; Ky Trung intersection, Ky Trung commune, Ky Anh district to QL1A connecting Ky Anh district center and QL12C intersection, Ky Tan commune, Ky Anh district connecting Vung Ang Economic Zone and Ky Anh town).

Speaking from the main bridge, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the important significance of the major event with the simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of 80 projects nationwide; at the same time, he affirmed that such results were achieved thanks to the leadership of the Party, the effective coordination of ministries, departments, branches, localities and especially the support and companionship of people and businesses.

- Vehicles are allowed to travel on the highway at a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

- The rest stop located at Km534+100 in Cam Xuyen district (located on both sides of the highway) has been cleared. Currently, the investor is implementing procedures to invest, build, and manage the rest stop business in accordance with the law.
