On the morning of March 23, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the People's Committee of Trieu Son district to organize a conference to evaluate 1 year of implementing the Organic Agriculture Development Project in Thanh Hoa province, period 2022-2030.
Delegates at the conference.
Pursuant to Decision No. 3809/QD-UBND dated November 7, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on approving the Project on organic agriculture development in Thanh Hoa province, period 2022-2030, the provincial agricultural sector has implemented in 4 areas: Cultivation, livestock, aquaculture and forestry. Initially, in the province, there have been many organic production models with high economic efficiency, such as: Thien Truong 36 High-tech Agricultural Service and Trading Company Limited (Dong Son); Nguyen Xuan Organic Farm (Yen Dinh); Cam Bo Organic Production Group, Dam Huong Organic Production Group, Soi Coc Areca Nut Sticky Rice Group (Thach Thanh)...
Conference delegates.
In addition to certified organic agricultural products, the province currently has about 5,100 hectares of organically produced crops and organic standards. This is a premise for developing organic agricultural production and recognizing organic agricultural products in the province in the following years.
Representative of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection reported at the conference.
Initial assessment shows that organic agricultural production is 1.2 - 1.5 times higher than non-organic. However, currently in the province, the livestock industry mainly focuses on developing large-scale farms applying high technology, while in the forestry industry, due to the characteristics of the crops, they are mainly perennial crops and medicinal plants, and at the same time, the products provide little or no food for consumers.
Representative of Eco nutrients Central Joint Stock Company speaking at the conference.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the achieved results and analyzing the limitations in the development of organic agriculture, such as: Awareness of organic agricultural production, organic agricultural products of enterprises, cooperatives, farming households and consumers is still limited. Organic agricultural production in the province is still limited to building models, investment in production is still spontaneous, small-scale; the ratio of land area for organic agricultural production and organic orientation to the total area of cultivated land and aquaculture is very low. Not many linkage chains have been built to attract economic sectors to participate in investment, technology transfer in production, processing and consumption of organic agricultural products.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Viet Chon spoke at the conference.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Viet Chon suggested that localities continue to promote information and propaganda work, raise awareness and understanding of the community about organic agriculture, gradually change perceptions about traditional production, and move towards safe and sustainable organic agriculture. Districts select and identify specific concentrated organic agricultural production areas, suitable to ecological conditions, development potential and consumption markets for organic agricultural products of each region to encourage businesses, cooperatives and people with demand for organic agricultural products to invest in production.
Delegates visited the organic rice production model in Trieu Son town.
Promote research, selection and rapid introduction of high-yield and high-quality plant and animal varieties, especially those resistant to pests and diseases, suitable for organic agricultural production in the province. Based on the area meeting VietGAP, GlobalGAP and food safety standards, the areas granted export and domestic growing area codes are the space and basis for building and upgrading agricultural production areas to meet organic standards. Continue to effectively implement the mechanisms and policies issued by the Central and the province to encourage the development of organic agriculture in the province.
