Early in the morning of the second day of the Giap Thin Lunar New Year (February 11), many locals and tourists gathered in Phu Hoi village, Trieu An commune, Trieu Phong district, to watch the dragon boat race. Mr. Nguyen Quang Sang, Head of Phu Hoi village, said that the 2024 Dragon Boat Racing Festival is a traditional sport activity to create a playground on the homeland's rivers and improve the spiritual life of locals and tourists. At the same time, he prayed for favorable weather and wind to facilitate fishing and aquaculture of local people.

The dragon boat racing festival is organized on a large scale and with high quality. In particular, the village has made a large investment in coordinating with a unit specializing in organizing events to livestream on social networking sites to introduce and promote the traditional beauty of the homeland, while meeting the needs of people everywhere.

The festival was attended by nearly 100 athletes from 6 teams of Phu Hoi village, Ha Tay village and An Xuan village; competing in the seasonal tournament, the division tournament and the division tournament at a distance of 3 km. The festival took place in a lively and attractive atmosphere with the cheers of the people creating a joyful sporting atmosphere right during the traditional Tet holiday of the nation.

Since the 4th day of Tet (February 13), many sports tournaments have been held widely in all regions of the province, creating a colorful spring sports picture. Director of the Center for Culture, Information and Sports (CHTT-TDTT) of Gio Linh district, Nguyen Xuan Hoan, said that it has become a tradition that every year on the 4th day of Tet, the center organizes a Table Tennis and Chinese Chess Tournament. This year, the tournament has 70 athletes participating in exchanges and competitions. The Center for Culture, Information and Sports has carefully prepared in all aspects to preserve and promote the tournament's brand, while creating a good start for the district's sports towards a more successful new year.

At the commune, town, and neighborhood levels, many sports activities in the early spring of Giap Thin also took place enthusiastically and jubilantly, such as: Gio Linh town organized a tug-of-war tournament; Trung Hai commune organized a traditional boat racing festival; Gio Quang commune organized a volleyball tournament... and many football tournaments were organized by the village youth union. In addition, many traditional sports and folk games were organized in festivals such as: Nhi Trung village (Gio Hai commune) organized a traditional Swing Festival and tug-of-war, stick pushing, volleyball; An My village (Gio My commune) organized a traditional Cu Festival in the early spring...

The early spring weather is ideal for organizing sports tournaments in Dong Ha City. From early morning on the 4th day of Tet, many people in Dong Giang Ward happily came to watch the traditional boat race on Hoi Song. This year's tournament was organized on a large scale and quality, gathering 85 athletes from 7 teams in Dong Giang Ward. The tournament created many attractive and impressive chases on the green Hoi Song racetrack; the athletes fought side by side with the encouragement and cheering of the people.

Also within the framework of sports activities to celebrate the Party and the spring of Giap Thin - 2024, on the morning of the 4th day of Tet, Dai Ang quarter, Dong Luong ward, Dong Ha city organized a traditional football tournament in early spring 2024, gathering more than 80 players from 6 football teams. These are beautiful cultural and sporting features that have been preserved for many years every time Tet comes and spring comes.

Mass sports movement off to a smooth start

According to the reporter's records, since the 4th day of Tet, mass sports activities have taken place simultaneously and enthusiastically across the scale of districts, towns, cities, villages, and neighborhoods. With the participation of party committees, authorities, businesses, and people, from urban to rural areas, from mountainous areas to coastal areas, many football, volleyball, traditional boat racing, traditional wrestling, tug of war, stick pushing, and many folk games have taken place enthusiastically... These activities have attracted thousands of people to watch, cheer, and compete.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DOCST) Phan Van Hoa said that before the New Year of Giap Thin - 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented plans to guide and support localities and units in organizing sports activities to celebrate the Party and celebrate spring.

Sports activities in early spring 2024 took place enthusiastically and widely, in which professionalism in organization and management stood out; the scale and quality of grassroots tournaments were improved; attention was paid to investing in improving the quality of tournament images through livestreaming and commenting on tournaments; the socialization of physical education and sports was carried out effectively, especially mobilizing resources from the people to take care of the mass sports movement.

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directly visited, encouraged and presented gifts to some localities organizing traditional boat racing and volleyball tournaments in the spring. With many rich and diverse sports activities organized in the first days of the new year of Giap Thin, especially at the grassroots level, it brings positive signals to the development of the mass sports movement in the coming time.
