Tu Ky clears traffic safety corridor violations in communes and towns

The Traffic Safety Committee of Tu Ky district and Nguyen Giap commune promote propaganda work for households living and doing business on both sides of Provincial Road 391 through the commune.

Provincial Road 391 through Nguyen Giap area previously had many households doing business, setting up awnings, sprinklers, and placing advertising signs, causing traffic safety and aesthetic problems.

In 2024, Nguyen Giap commune has made handling violations of traffic safety corridors one of the breakthroughs in performing its tasks.

All villages in the commune have established Traffic Safety Teams, and promoted propaganda and mobilization work for households living and doing business on both sides of the road.

Households with constructions and assets on the corridor land have cleared the land themselves, ensuring site clearance for the project to renovate and upgrade provincial road 391 through the area.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Giap Commune, said that after completing the upgrading and expansion of Road 391 through the commune, the road structure (traffic corridor) and houses are close together, so violations and encroachment on the corridor are likely to occur. The commune is determined not to let new violations arise.

The Commune People's Committee assigned traffic officers and police forces, village chiefs and deputy chiefs to strengthen inspections, prevent new violations from occurring, ensure clear roads and sidewalks, and contribute to preventing accidents.

Awareness of protecting traffic safety corridors in many communes and towns of Tu Ky has also changed positively.

According to the Economic-Infrastructure Department of Tu Ky district, since the beginning of the year, 10 constructions violating the traffic corridor of Provincial Road 391, the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway and district roads have been promptly discovered by local authorities, and have been mobilized to be dismantled by households. No cases have been punished for administrative violations.

Typically, in April 2024, the People's Committee of Hung Dao commune discovered that Mr. CMT's household in the locality had built a shack in the traffic safety corridor of Provincial Road 391.

The commune government coordinated with the District Economic-Infrastructure Department to inspect and request Mr. T. to strictly comply with regulations on ensuring traffic safety corridors.

Immediately afterwards, Mr. T. dismantled the construction himself, pledging not to violate again.

After propaganda and mobilization, many households in the district have voluntarily dismantled constructions that violate traffic corridors.

Attaching responsibility to each locality

In cases of intentional violations and procrastination, the district will resolutely handle them.

Since the beginning of the year, the district's interdisciplinary force has organized 4 campaigns to clear violations of traffic safety corridors on provincial road 391, district roads 191N, 191M, 191Q, 191C, the most ever.

Before proceeding with the clearance, the District Traffic Safety Committee assigned the People's Committees of the communes to review and count violations such as setting up tents, tarpaulins, canopies, awnings, installing advertising signs; market meeting places, buying and selling goods, trees that do not ensure visibility, causing traffic insecurity.

During the clearance operations, leaders of the People's Committees of communes and towns directly participated, promptly directed and resolved arising situations.

As a result, the authorities seized 100 billboards, 50 canopies, and cleared 200 trees that obscured visibility; and people removed nearly 100 billboards themselves.

With the theme of Traffic Safety Year 2024 "Respecting the law to build a culture of safe traffic", from the beginning of the year, Tu Ky set a goal of resolving violations of traffic corridors and restoring order on sidewalks and roads.

The district proactively issued a plan to ensure traffic safety with the goal of reducing traffic accident criteria by at least 5% compared to 2023.

In 2024, the District People's Committee will continue to provide financial support to the People's Committees of communes and towns to carry out the work of clearing violations of traffic safety corridors.

The district has directed all 23 communes and towns to establish a working group to inspect and handle violations of traffic safety corridors. Localities are required to develop plans to organize the clearance of violations on national highways, provincial roads, and district roads through their management areas.

Provincial Road 391 through Cong Lac commune is clear, with no violations of traffic corridor safety.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung, Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Committee, Head of the Economic-Infrastructure Department of Tu Ky district said: "The results of ensuring safety of traffic safety corridors are one of the criteria for evaluating and ranking the emulation with localities. After the clearance, the District Traffic Safety Committee assigned the People's Committees of communes and towns to be responsible for protecting and preventing recurrence of violations," said Mr. Chung.
