In August 2024, in Chemnitzs city, Saxony state (Germany), under the witness of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee and Saxony state government, Becamex IDC Corporation and Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems ENAS signed a framework agreement on cooperation in developing microelectronics and smart systems according to the ENAS model in Binh Duong.

On that basis, Becamex IDC Corporation and Fraunhofer ENAS Institute for Electronic Nanosystems signed a cooperation agreement to establish a Microelectronics Research Center in Binh Duong.

Leaders of Becamex IDC and Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems ENAS signed an agreement to establish a Microelectronics Research Center in Binh Duong, witnessed by provincial leaders.

The partnership is based on two main pillars. The governance pillar: Project management coordination, financial planning and connecting public-private partners. The scientific pillar: Applied research and innovation to support the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam. The Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems ENAS will conduct a comprehensive feasibility study and develop an overall strategy focused on the semiconductor microelectronics sector in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC Corporation said that the cooperation between Becamex IDC and the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems ENAS is the basis for connecting scientists and researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute and European institutes. This cooperation will lay a solid foundation for Vietnam's participation in the global semiconductor value chain, contributing to the development of new technology industries with high added value, meeting the requirements of trends in the new development stage.

Prof. Dr. Harald Kuhn - Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nanosystems ENAS said that semiconductors are very important for innovation, especially when looking for investment opportunities in smart industry, aerospace, and smart factories. Microelectronics is a catalyst for the development of these high-tech industries. Especially key economic localities such as Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City need to have knowledge of microelectronics. The establishment of a Microelectronics Center in Binh Duong will be an important step to bring large corporations in this field to invest in Vietnam.
