BTO - The class teaching traditional Cham ethnic musical instruments organized by the Provincial Museum just opened in Phu Lac commune (Tuy Phong) on the morning of May 17.
The class has 22 students who are Cham ethnic minority children in the commune. During 15 days (from May 17 to 31, 2024), students will be instructed by artisans on basic knowledge, practice, and perform on Ginang drums, Saranai trumpets, etc. This is a part of the project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021-2030.
Traditional Cham musical instruments play an extremely important role in the religious and spiritual life of the Cham community. However, this type of musical instrument is a very difficult subject to convey, requiring participants to have musical talent and endless passion for this type of music. Therefore, according to Vice Chairman of Phu Lac Commune People's Committee Do Tan Thong: After this training course, there will be a force of young artisans who will inherit and play traditional musical instruments, not only serving the cultural activities of the ethnic group but also working with the locality to do a good job of preserving and promoting the good traditional cultural values of the Cham ethnic group, promoting the development of community tourism.
According to the plan, in 2024, the Provincial Museum will open 6 classes to teach traditional Cham musical instruments in Ham Thuan Bac, Bac Binh and Tuy Phong districts.
