Xinhua News Agency reported that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China met on July 25 and approved the appointment of Wang Yi as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Pan Gongsheng as Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBoC).

According to a decision passed at the 4th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress, Qin Gang was dismissed from his position as Foreign Minister while Yi Gang was relieved of his position as Governor of the PBoC. Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a decree to issue this decision.
Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee (Chairman of the National People's Congress), chaired the opening meeting on the morning of July 25.
