These fungal strains thrive in hot, humid environments with lots of nutrients and in bodies with weakened immune systems (prolonged use of antibiotics, use of immunosuppressants, etc.).

The fungus enters humans in three ways: from person to person, from animal to person, and from soil to person (or to animal). It has the ability to produce keratinase enzymes that allow it to penetrate the stratum corneum.

How to recognize skin fungus

Fungi often cause diseases in places with keratin such as skin, fur, hair, and nails. Common fungal diseases are: hair fungus, chin beard fungus, body fungus (ringworm, groin fungus, intertrigo, tinea versicolor...), nail fungus, foot fungus.

Clinical manifestations of dermatophytosis are round, red patches with clear boundaries and polygonal edges, and may have small blisters at the edges. When rubbed, scratched a lot, or used with inappropriate topical medications (acid, corticosteroids, flashlights, etc.), the lesions may become inflamed, eroded, oozing fluid, sometimes with pus, and the edges are no longer clear.

To treat skin fungus, dermatologists often recommend topical antifungal medications such as ketoconazole, miconazole, terbinafine, clotrimazole, BSI solution, ASA. For skin fungus, treatment lasts 3-4 weeks, for nail fungus, 3-6 months. In cases where topical treatment does not respond, oral antifungal medications should be added.

How to avoid skin fungus in humid weather?
